Default Who knows Ludwig Mod Orange?

I have a line on a 1967 (?) Ludwig Mod Orange, Hollywood configuration (12, 13, 16, 22). I have confirmed the badge numbers are 1967 and two of the drums have visible date stamps indicating 1967. All drums have the wrap incorporated into the shell construction. That said, I read somewhere that the Mod Orange wrap was first introduced in 1968, which is not consistent with my observations. I would greatly appreciate it if the experts out there would help me with this? Also, what is this kit worth? Assuming it's authentic, based on the extent of fade and imperfections in the kit, I would say it is a 7 to 7.5/10?

Thanks!

I have seen '67 Mod Orange documented before. I think it came out mid year maybe. Forum member WFLKurt will know for certain.

I regretfully missed out on a similar kit and age about 2 years ago on ebay. Kit sold for $1,400 I recall. Despite the weak seller's market I think there is still a strong market for Mod Orange, psychedelic and of course black oyster pearl Ludwigs.

Good luck.

Mod Orange first came out around June of 1967. At least that is the earliest known example I have seen. I have a 1969 super classic and a 1971 club date. People often get confused about the introduction of the color as Ludwig ran it's first ad for the color(along with psych red) in the Jan 1968 edition of the Ludwig drummer. This almost always makes people believe that the color was not around in 1967. Add to the fact that neither psych red OR mod orange made it to a catalog until 1970.

Sounds like a great set you have a line on. I think hollywood configuration is the most common, then super classic. Downbeats in Mod Orange are extremely rare and become even more rare after 1967 as many people were following the trend to larger sized drums after Carmine, Bonham and Mitch Mitchell started using larger drums.
