I don't need to know how to speak French to know what that meant.

Mr. B,

Do you know the brand of the drums on the site that have a TRIXON

shaped Bass Drum?

(There is a Hazel reference in this post.)

Thanks for the link.

Re: "...Mr. B,

Batterie Sonic, which most likely translates into English as SONIC DRUMS.

The French description on the photo translates to "Sonic Drums with oval bass drum shell, circa 1950".

green glass drum: "...Who was first with the oblong Bass Drum?

Batterie Sonic or Trixon? "

It's a good question to which we might never really ascertain the answer.

Possibly DERI, although I myself am uncertain.

RIMMEL also produced an oval bass drum kit, as did LEFIMA.

It's quite possible that each of these makers' designs were modern constructions of much earlier drums about which the manufacturers had knowledge.

As the adage goes, "There's nothing new under the sun."

Of special note - The KOLBERG Glissando with a several octave range, is a fascinating drum with a different application, based on the oval shell idea!
