Gosh, I've posted so many of them over the years here, I can't even remember them all. But one I do remember was a 1964 Gold Sparkle Pioneer in a gray Ludwig case. Mint. NOB rims Nickel hardware. Mint. Mint. Mint. Original heads, etc. $5.00.

The only "deals" I've gotten have been bad ones! I've paid a fair price for my main two kits, not full value but not a steal either...
But OH, the bad deals...I've gone to look at piles of shells from craigslist or something, and one half of me thinks, "This is awesome and so worth it, and if I don't grab it someone else will and I'll feel like an idiot..." The other half of me is meanwhile already saying I'm an idiot.
That's the part that says "I told you so" for the next few months while I deal with a pile of orphaned mismatched projects.
(One possible deal, though, so I don't feel too bad. A pre Ludwig black Ghost bass pedal for three bucks at a thrift store.)
Troy,
presently trying hard to resist more unnecessary shells.
My deals are more like Sun180.
Oh sure the $175 40's Radio King bass drum that I will have close to a grand in by the time I'm done with the restoration. Yep what a deal..
Building the Radio King kit though has become an almost obsession for perfection.
Oh I did get a set of '58 duco slingerlands for $300...but the guy I got them from paid $50 for them at a garage sale. DOH
49 - WFL Ray McKinley - 26, 13, 16
58 - Slingerland Duco
58 - Slingerland Krupa Deluxe
70 - Ludwig Champagne Sparkle - 20, 12, 14
70 - Ludwig Champagne Sparkle - 22 (need), 13, 16
And some others..
I got a Pearl 1980's double pedal for $30
the only problems were that one of the tensoin rod holders was cracked in half and the drive shaft is almost done for Violin but i can take it
i just got a replacement part for the pedal today CryBaby
i think i got a really good deal
I've been hunting for a whole Ludwig set 60's or 70's for a good price for 3 months now. I really want to find one.

My best recent score was a 1965 Ludwig BDP Jazz Fest in excellent condition for $120, including case and stand.
I've got one helluva score in progress, though. It's probably gonna take a few weeks to work through negotiations, but I garauntee the drum is going to light up this forum! I've got a pic that I'm itching to post, but would prefer to wait until the deal is done. Stay tuned...
