Re: Snare Wire Buzz!

As O-Lugs states- if you play LIVE- there is no way to avoid sympathetic vibration- sometimes the bass player will hold a note at sound check and my sticks laying on the floor tom will FLY into the...

Re: Pics of my restored CB700 kit w/ wrist watch lugs

Off topic/ but is that an old Wuhan Linear (5 sided) cymbal to the left? I thought I was the only crazy guy still using those funky trash/crashes! I think they are great! (and BTW- great recover...

Re: Blended Family

Re: E/drums?

For several years (after meeting Frank Beard) I have triggered when we play large spaces or outdoors- even sampling my own kit sounds to trigger: so basically a hybrid kit/ acoustic yet getting the...

It's all in the 'Sticks'...

I played my first indoor show Saturday after the looong Summer outdoor tour and noticed something- my 'go-to' stick has long been the Promark 747 oak nylon tip (especially outside rocking). Not many...

Re: Probably the dumbest question ever asked here.

I have extensively used the type of clamp illustrated (in many differing brands) to customize my setup with multiple toms, cymbals and E-pads. If you are careful you can gig and not have too much...

Re: This Is The Least Active Forum Ever

For me- I like to read to increase knowledge, see what others are doing, then kinda keep to myself! Although I've played for over 40 years- sometimes I feel like- 'who am I to tell them what to do?'-...

Re: New Guy With New MIJ Kit

Hello- I am 63 and still gig regularly with 3 different bands- enjoy yourself as you are never too 'old'! I have many sets and I use a MIJ set I got for $100 at gigs where I am afraid of 'road rash'...

Re: Happy 4th of July!

Played a gig at the Elks Lodge last night celebrating the 4th and a vet battling cancer was on the floor all night/ sometimes even leaving his cane back at the table.... great to see him dancing and...

Re: Performance Disaster

We all have them! The one I remember most was playing a gig with my '68 Champagne sparkle Ludwigs- kicking into the solo for Soul Sacrifice channeling Michael Shrieve at Woodstock... the L-arm bass...

Re: Filling holes in oyster Black Pearl wrap

I've never used that specific brand -but being a water based acrylic I wouldn't think anything could go wrong- just be sparing doing fine little applications/ letting dry/ repeat/ until finally...

Re: In your opinion why did Bonham start playing vistalites?

Haha!- - probably the same reason I bought a set ( amber vistas in the same config.)- They LOOK cool- they rumble the room... and miked they are thunderous.... not for the music of today unless you...

Re: Acrylic shell - drilling?

--just me I guess/ but on acrylic I wouldn't use screws or especially rivets as they spread force into the plastic.... an invitation for cracks.... I like concert toms with the rings so if I decided...

Re: Ludwig Question

It may be blasphemy to the purists- but I gig my drums- and on the Ludwig fold-outs I welded another inch and a half of rod on the end.... ground smooth and sprayed silver with the rubber tips back...

Re: Acrylic shell - drilling?

You got it/ just something to take away that sharp edge/ barely 6 spins/or one slow pull of the trigger - factory doesn't do that but I've heard it 'helps'- ! Sounds like you've got it planned for a...

Re: Acrylic shell - drilling?

Spur point/ brad point are the 'suggested' and will keep you really accurate- just remember to go slow.../ use a variable speed drill so you can control the speed- not just 'zoom through'! Good Luck...

Re: Acrylic shell - drilling?

As stated, support and care are #1- be careful not to scratch ( I masking tape both sides where I am drilling) and never drill through to 'air'-/ that is- have a backing board and SLOWLY go through...

Re: Concert toms

Curious if you are still gigging with concert toms drummer123 and idrum4fun as I use a concert tom set up when we play outdoor gigs- when miked (or triggered) they sound GREAT!) Usually I have an...

Re: Original Tone Controls -- Simply Style over Substance?

As stated by some already- I hardly use them but when in a 'quiet' setting they really help with volume (deadening and losing resonance BUT...) making the drum thud instead of sing.... rarely used......

Re: Club date bearing edge repair

Re: Filling holes in oyster Black Pearl wrap
