Re: Supra Phonic 1965

Nice drums guys! I have owned several '65 Supras that were 100 percent pit free. Most of the '64 Supras that I have had seemed to have real bad pitting. Possible that Ludwig used a different vendor...

Re: Opinions: Hawthorne Drum Shop

Chris is a younger guy. He has come a long way since he first started doing his drum business. I first met him two years ago at the Chicago show. His inventory and sales seem to be getting better and...

Re: Ludwig guys, tenor drum, FT, small bass drum, none of the above??

Nice project! 12x17s are some of my faves. Makes a nice floor tom or small bass drum. Neat find. I've got a few but all of mine are center lug.

I've got a few and have had some more in the past. Will try to post some pics. Here is my 20" pre trans stamp. Took a long time to find. 2262 grams. Fantastic condition.

Re: 1960's Keystone 6.5x14 superphonic year made????

I have seen the washers go on the other side of the cup washers. It looks a little strange but that is the way they were assembled on the ones that I have run across.

Re: Shell ID?

Mark- I would assume that it would have to be separated like you mention. Not something that I would ever attempt for sure.

Re: Shell ID?

Exterior of the shell certainly appears to have been wrapped at one time. I have a mahogany interior/exterior 12" Club Date tom in which the wrap was removed and pulled from the scarf joint instead...

Re: Shell ID?

Looks Ludwig to me. Like you mentioned...scarf joint is there. Hardware impressions on the old wrap looked Ludwig. The muffler hole looked Ludwig. Someone may have applied shellac on the interior...

Re: So Who Built My Kit?

Small world! I had seen them last year at the show as well. I didn't have time to do any "shopping" at the show while running the booth. But I did see these. I was five minutes away from leaving...

Re: So Who Built My Kit?

Picked up this very small Norma kit at the Chicago Show a few months ago. Haven't detailed it and got it like I want yet. Been way to busy. Has a great tone to it.

Re: 66 clubdate floor tom legs slip

I've had some success by simply switching the rods to a different mount. The tolerances on some of these are so close that the simple change can actually fix that problem. Memory locks/clamps would...

Re: Two estate sale finds

That is the correct P83 on the Standard snare. They are one of the few drums that came with this particular version. It has the Ludwig Block logo as opposed to most P83s that had a Ludwig Script logo.

Re: Paint stripping over a wrap

They can be a LOT of work. But also very rewarding. I posted this a while back. But here is my mid 60's Ludwig WMP 14x14 floor tom that I stripped recently. It did require some major patience.....and...
