You're entirely welcome sir. I couldn't wait to share the news with anyone who'd listen! :)

Re: Your forever-keeper drum set
My Forever Kit is these Ludwig Standards I just bought a couple of weeks ago. 20 14 12 in Silver Mist. I had been looking for a silver sparkle Downbeat, but the cost +shipping (I'm in Toronto) plus...

Re: Ludwig Bowtie Lug for Wood Snare; Rims
Sorry to butt in here but I too am looking for Ludwig bowtie casings, 12 would be great.

The sheeting I used was...

Re: Woody Orphans
O-lugs it's weird how you can buy the best but somehow maybe get a lemon. I hate to say the best sounding kick I owned was MIJ with a caved-in spur on one side, 20 bucks.
"musical mindset" I...

Re: Woody Orphans
Very cool. Modern drums just don't do it for me, ever.

I suppose most of us on this forum are like that.
I said "most". :)

Re: Woody Orphans
Those are cool. I could wrap the bass and floor tom but not the Slingerland toms; no clearance for the counter hoop.
But I have to keep reminding myself to not spend any more money on drums heh.

Re: Woody Orphans
Okay let's see...the mounted toms are both Slingerland with the deep re-rings. 7X11 and 8X12.
The 7X11 had a tacked bottom head which put the tension casings closer to the top of the shell.
So I...

Re: Pins everywhere
I purchased a Coronet 20" bass drum which sounded absolutely stunning with the factory heads. Hit and miss I think.
But the pins are great equalizers...

Woody Orphans
Never post here anymore who knows why. Always come back to check in though.
Here's some pictures of my kit which changes all the time.

Re: HAROLD "Doc" WEST... 1951 tom mounting
In the end...not really. :)
I think I can see what appears to be the butt of a stick or brush *just* peeking out from the back of his hand, which of course suggests he was playing the drums....

Re: HAROLD "Doc" WEST... 1951 tom mounting
Neither the clarinet nor the saxophone is in play; was the band not playing when the picture was taken? Then Doc could easily have been setting up or tearing down his kit, holding the tom in his...
