Re: Gretsch silver sealer evaporate?

Fade is likely if the drum was used extensively without a front head or otherwise left out without any heads on it for lengthy periods of time. I think evaporation is unlikely.

Re: Show Off Your Silver Sparkle

Gorgeous kit. I've seen it in archive if I'm not mistaken. That is the most 12 looking 13 I've ever seen. When did Dynasonics move from 3 to 5 ply shells?

Re: Complete 1950s set up, gretsch and zildjian

I'm not in the market, but nice setup. Very special color too.

I admired the broken crash, as well. Looks like something Gary Mallaber would have liked.

Good luck with the sale!

Re: Ludwig Silver Sparkle Drums

I read somewhere that everything has its price. I don't think it was an accurate statement.

It sure looks as if you devised a great method from here Gerard. Nice restoration and a beautiful drum.

Re: 1966 Ludwig Oyster Black Pearl

Nice kit! I notice from the photos that I must have used my throne backwards back then.

Re: Price of Vintage Drums depressed

You needed to buy a Gretsch or Camco 18, 12, 14 just a few years earlier to keep up with a Road Runner.

I remember the Road Runners very well, except the one I was close up to was equipped with a...

Re: Repair Project

I would do a Henry Ford on it with black wrap for $150 or so including the adhesive. There's no question about it though, an offer of $500 would be better.

Re: Paul McCartney was right...

Congrats on the gig at 64. Does tie nicely to McCartney. Curious minds want to know: How old are the rest of the guys in the band? Are you actually old, or are you playing with your contemporaries?

Two Tone Gretsch

I saw this advert on Reverb and immediately took note of it because it is a copy (unlikely to be the exact same one) of one of the first drum sets I really took notice of in a small drum shop in...

Re: Beginner kit score

Great snare drum. Now you can sell the rest of the beginner's kit for $75. Just don't forget to tell them they'll need a snare drum.

Re: Look at This

What a bummer. What gets me about FedEx is that certain shops have insisted I open the boxes for their inspection or they wouldn't provide the insurance. When they've done that, I take them to UPS. I...

Re: Cleveland Powertone COB date?

Here is a clip from the now world famous Rogers Dating Guide. It suggest 1965, as noted by others above. Also, agree that the top hoop is not correct, butt plate is not original, etc. Nice drum. A...
