Re: Zanchi Cymbal

You'll probably find that it's not bang on 18". They were metric sized cymbals. They're nice. I like them a lot. I see quite a few pop up here in Euro Disney land, eh, Europe that is. An 18" like...

Re: Vintage Pearl Drum Identification

Tell her she has two kits and try buy one. Personally, I do prefer the one with the centre lugs and massive tension rods. It's kind of like a Club Date set. This reminds me - I recently bought a...

Re: Rogers Holiday Snare drum Manhunt! Need Help!

Ta-daah! As promised - Here are some pics of the snare I was going on about.

Re: Rogers Holiday Snare drum Manhunt! Need Help!

I'll post some photos later. It's basically a Holiday model, but in raw brass. They called it lacquered brass, but it's from 61 and the lacquered finish has probably been polished away by now. I just...

Re: Rogers Holiday Snare drum Manhunt! Need Help!

Hi, why not just buy a matching Holiday snare? I've a raw brass Rogers 5 x 14 with B&B lugs and old style clock-face strainer, but it's an English Rogers snare. Great drum. 300 bucks and she's yours....

Re: Heads for undersized Sonor snare

You're not wrong about that! Really dry, clean, short note. Nice round tone from the shell. Really nice snare. I've had the 10 lug 545 or whatever it was called. I didn't have it long before I sold...

Re: Heads for undersized Sonor snare

Thank you so much. My snare has the correct hoops. There's a space just like in the photo attached. Great sounding snare. I've had a few different types over the years, but the D454 is becoming one...

Heads for undersized Sonor snare

Hi all, I picked up a nice Sonor Phonic snare D454 (I think) 8 lugger, ferromanganese shell. Great sounding snare, but as you Sonor guys will know, the shells are metric and regular heads do not fit...

Re: My New Old Avedis Rant

No, man. You just caught me in a bad mood. I know I shouldn't have taken a chance on this cymbal. Sorry if I sounded like a bit of a you know what. :)

Re: My New Old Avedis Rant

I think I already explained my reasons for taking a chance on the cymbal and why I bid without knowing the weight. I mentioned it was the middle of the night. I was about to go to sleep. I thought...

My New Old Avedis Rant

Here's one for you. I spot this old 20" Avedis with the 50's stamp and factory rivet holes on page 10 of the used cymbals eBay listings with no watchers and a $0.00 starting bid and 6 hours remaining...

Re: Rogers Lacquered Brass Snare Early 60's

Cheers, Mike. I agree. The B&B lugs and Tallboy hoops complete the look. It's becoming my go to snare at the moment. It really is a fantastic sounding drum.

Rogers Lacquered Brass Snare Early 60's

Here's a drum I picked up a while back. The shell had a lot of tarnish on it when it came to me, but I polished it up to reveal the brass shell. It was a lot of elbow grease, but worth it in the end....
