Re: A Very Interesting Find

I had one of those. It makes me want to go searching through my hardware box to see if it survived the last 5 decades.

Re: Happy St. Paddy's Day! Let's see your green.

My Ludwig WMP drums are now "sort of" Gingerine Green, but it's a special day in that my 12"x8" tom turns 50 years old today. Yep - date stamped 3/17/67. The rest of the kit is very slightly older...

Re: Vintage Ludwig deal - Need help!

Really? Only $1,500 tops for a 50 year old WMP Ludwig set with original everything, plus new replacement heads? Seems low. Glad I don't plan to sell anytime soon....

Re: Vintage Ludwig deal - Need help!

The set needs some serious loving, but should be well worth it when done.
There's a spreadsheet with serial numbers (470,xxx - 501,xxx) in the 1st link below to my '67 WMP Downbeat that leads me to...

Re: Meet a parts stripper yesterday, ugh :(

Has anyone else been creeped out by the eBay photos posted by the infamous drum stripper in Florida. They use purple satin as a background for the parts. That seriously reminds me of looking at a...

Re: 1967 Ludwig SBP

Beautiful set!
Please share the serial numbers. I'd be curious to see how close they are to my '67 WMP Downbeat (470107, 500495, 501248)

Re: 67 white marine pearl downbeat on ebay

A 20,000 digit spread would not surprise me at all. My 1967 WMP Downbeat ordered all together* on 4/4/67 has over a 30,000 digit spread in the 3 serial numbers for the 12x8 tom (#470107, 3/17/67),...

Re: Ludwig Superbeat Drum Sets

Zenstat: Yes, the entire kit is intact, unmodified and detailed back to what I would almost call New Old Stock (NOS) condition. Although I've installed modern heads and identically matching rubber...

Re: Ludwig Superbeat Drum Sets

This configuration was not in the '67 Ludwig catalog, but my drum teacher and seller ordered it as a "Downbeat", but with specific 20-12-16 sizes.
Receipt dated 4/4/67:...

Re: Tell me what is wrong with this Ludwig kit...

The [really, really] small shop I ordered my kit from in 1967 wrote it up as a "Downbeat" but it came with a 16" FT in lieu of the correct 14"x14". I suspect Ludwig was selling anything anyone...

Re: When My 1967 Rogers Set Was Brand New

One of 4 original receipts from 1966 through 1970 for my Supraphonic, WMP Downbeat, soft cases and later a 20" Zildzian ride and Rogers swan leg stand are attached. The other 3 are in my set on...

The badge numbers you quoted are in line with my one-owner set. Here are my numbers:

Re: Sold on Simmichrome! Newbie Alert!

A salesperson at Lone Star Percussion near Dallas also recommended Simichrome (by Happich, 641-648-5121) and said I could find it at a Woodcraft Supply in nearby Farmer's Branch - found it ($14 for...

Re: 1967 WMP Ludwig 20-12-16 Downbeat

WFLKURT: You mentioned Ludwig cranking out drums by the "hundreds" in 1966. That seems really, really low. I'm guessing it was many thousands. Does anyone have production figures posted?

Re: 1967 WMP Ludwig 20-12-16 Downbeat

Re: 1967 WMP Ludwig 20-12-16 Downbeat

To be honest, I'm pretty isolated from other drummers and drum sets other than my own set and on-line forums so your knowledge about the proper panels for the badge and mount placement is news to me....

Re: 65 Ludwig Downbeat outfit

I'd say what my mom said to me in the late 70's, which I posted as a comment in the Gallery just this afternoon (1967 WMP Ludwig 20-12-16 Downbeat):
