Re: How High will it go 60's Ludwig BOP set

Ok guys, school me on this kit. It doesn't look very special to my untrained eyes.

But it has a lot of interest with 45 bids, so it must be pretty special.

Re: Leedy Drums 2

I have to say, I really like this kit, but I'm just not ready to step up yet. It'll go soon, the price is right and it's so darned pretty.

No doubt, that's a good looking kit.

Are you going to gig with this one?

Re: listen and comment

Well, I don't know much about vintage cymbals, but I dug the groove these guys were playing! Nice! That double neck was very cool with a great vintage sound, but I know it's not about the...

Re: What's up with head prices going through the roof?

Well, I'm not a business major or mylar salesman, but it appears helium prices are way up, causing mylar balloon sales to plummet. So my guess is, the mylar people are stuck with a lot of, well,...

Re: Another High Priced Vintage Kit For Sale

And he really put zero effort into this sale.

A 3 line description and 5 really lousy pictures. I mean, if your going to ask top dollar, or beyond, you have to put the work in! At least the Ludwig...

Re: Does it have to match?

I've been looking to pick-up a red sparkle piccolo snare drum to match my kit, but I'll be darned if I can find any. I don't think they even exist, so if I go through with one, it won't match.

Re: Smooth White Coated Head?

Just picked one up myself to give it a go. Sounds like a Calftone, hydraulic, G2/G1 EC, Ambassador, clear, coated, red/black power dot drum head to me. I can't tell the difference!Excited

Re: Possible buy...what is it worth? Tiger's Eye Crest kit

Geez. Did I tell you my Norma kit got run over by the subway the other day? Tragic. The train didn't even try and stop. Those fine, hand crafted, luan shells pulverized into splinters. Oh, the...

Re: eBay listing that infuriates me!

Yeah, but these kids are brought up on computer generated, disposable "music". Drum and guitar solo's dont mean much to them. They are not playing in nearly the numbers that the boomers did, and...

Re: My New Leedy

I agree for the most part, although I'm not a fan of seeing the tom mount on the BD sit unused either. Looks odd to my eye.

Pearl makes a pretty cool, unobtrusive suspension system that I like,...

Re: My New Leedy

You keep it interesting johnny, so don't stop doing what you do!

I have the same tom mount on my kit, and yeah, I was looking for ways, other than a stand, to increase the lost resonance. I don't...

Re: eBay listing that infuriates me!

Well, I'm a newbie, but here's my take -

Rewrap? Even a relative newbie like me knows that drags the price down pretty dramatically.

Non-matching? Again drags the price down. These are random...

Re: Possible buy...what is it worth? Tiger's Eye Crest kit

Wow, I'm kind of surprised a Guitar Center would deal with MIJ stuff. Seems like a low profit margin item for them.

What is that strip running through the bass drum behind the head? I didn't...

Re: Possible buy...what is it worth? Tiger's Eye Crest kit

Ok, I defer to you Bob. I thought I could be wrong, but it's only 1 pic, so it's kind of hard to judge.

But yeah, new heads for sure. That BD head almost looks water stained, or something. I...

They look pretty beat up to me in that one pic. Am I wrong?

I wouldn't give more than $200 myself, even given the cool wrap...

Re: Help dating a Kent kit?

Agreed, American-made.

The wood grain runs horizontal as opposed to Japanese running vertical, which was easier and cheaper to produce.

Re: I Know These Ain't Vintage, But....

Yeah, that's a steal, and it's actually a nice looking kit in that green.

I guess this seller doesn't like to sit on stuff, so he prices everything to move.
