Re: Convert Ludwig Concert Snare Drum to Jazz Festival

Might be a better play to trade the Concert model for a Jazzfest.

Re: Newspaper Bass Muffling ??

I use party balloons. Clear head with a port. Easy to take in or out or just pop one or two if there`s too many. One time I had the red M&M balloon in there, he was a great sound.

Re: Sonor Performer ID Question

It wont have the marking. The number of lugs, and throw off tell us that. Ten lugs with the same drum, plus a muffler would be a D-506. The 6 1/2 is the drum depth. It`s 14" wide and 6 1/2" deep...

Re: SONOR 8 pc Phonic Series Rosewood in/out 1975 Centennial RARE & EXCELLENT!

Don`t listen to those fools telling you what you got. I gave it a quick once over. So far I see a 1975 Rosewood veneer in and out, all factory. The guy that told you about the manufactured finished...

Re: Orange snare drums

My eyes aren't what they used to be but I think that strainer has coil-over shocks. A suspension for the bottom piece.

Re: Is Chroming Nickel Hardware A Detrimental Modification

I guess a Ringo FT will bring more resale, but that drummer with a 63 DownBeat in Nickel without a FT will be sad one day when his option got Chromed.

You can make both happy by getting chromed...

Re: Is Chroming Nickel Hardware A Detrimental Modification

If they`re supposed to be Nickel, then that`s what they should stay. If it`s for a players kit then that`s on you.

Re: Ludwig 1920s Mahogany Super

There`s nothing cheap about that drum. Considering how many are left,...it deserves to be saved. You got 90% of the trim, and a lathe can solve the shell issues. (nothing cheap about it) The plies...

Re: Why do people dent your heads ?

No. I object to him saying that`s as loud as it will go. He should say it`s as loud as that stick will let it go. There`s a lot more to it than what he is teaching. His accent is a single chop,...but...

Re: Why do people dent your heads ?

As far as decibels go, yes there is a limit to that, but as to how far that cracked note travels, and how long or short it is and how often it is, ..all matter doing solos.

To see what I mean...

Re: Why do people dent your heads ?

That guy doesn`t get into everything, only what he does. His rim shot is just that, a single rim shot, he says nothing about rim shot with tip of stick, middle of stick, squeezed stick, light grip,...

Re: This is the Display Your Sonor Drums Thread

Early 71 SONOR had budget lines, that teardrop D-421 snare shell and lugs were plenty available to add to the budget orders. When that 421 grew up, in became the 454 Champions and Phonic snares.

Re: Why do people dent your heads ?

Buddy plays an entirely different group. I`m actually learning the jazz thing bit by bit lately.

But onto, If this video comes out, watch the whole thing and you`ll see why things like dents and...

Re: This is the Display Your Sonor Drums Thread

SONOR stopped using the two hole hoop before they made that throw. It was on the budget 70`s line.

Re: This is the Display Your Sonor Drums Thread

Before the seamless Champion and Phonics, that was a D421. SONOR didn`t make any student drums without a bead in the teardrop era.

Re: Why do people dent your heads ?

There are those who can spell etiquette and those that will take their drums to their limits. Other people are.....well, uhm,...don`t have dents.

Re: Acrophonic? Supralite?

Just like the others have said, this happens from time to time with Ludwig. Most of the time it`s a stock issue. some times they will honor a request. It`s not a swap because the drilling is...
