Re: Dating Rogers Holiday kit and Dyna-Sonic snare

Yes, I sold it. It showed up once on a youtube video sometime later. It had belong to Bobby Chiasson at the drum farm. Nice kit. I really liked the deep fade.

Re: 1960 Ludwig Transition Badge Downbeat Outfit No. 988P in Oyster Pink Pearl

A very good story and a great outcome. That set has got to be about as rare as they come. Congrats on the 8 year achievement.

Re: Dating Rogers Holiday kit and Dyna-Sonic snare

I had a kit in 14x20, 16 (depth) x14 and 8x12 that had that very dark fade on all three drums and I liked it a lot. They were similar era. You bass and floor tom are probably from 1964 and floor tom...

Re: Rogers Black Strata Headliner

I don't know the answer, but my speculation is that Rogers obtained theirs from a different vendor until Ludwig stopped using oyster black pearl in favor of the "bowling ball" version. I think that...

Re: Rogers Fullerton Green Label

No clue, but it's not surprising in the Fulleton PowerTone era. I don't think I've owned any Rogers from that era, so haven't seen that green ink before. Might be worth a check of the singles for...

Re: For Sale: 20/12/14 Olive Satin Flame Gretsch Round Badge

Like it, but local pickup isn't happening for me. I wonder if Steve Maxwell might want it if you took it to the downtown shop.

Re: Rogers Swivomatic

Good catch on the C-clips Mike! Lugs probably replaced due to corrosion.

Re: Rogers Swivomatic

The top hoop on each tom-tom is not a Rogers hoop and the bass drum hoops are not original. The rest that I can see is Rogers including what appears to be hex rod floor tom legs.

It looks as if...

Re: Rogers Restoration 1963 Swing Time No. 2816 Outfit in Blue Onyx Pearl

Nice, nice work. Those are beautiful. Are they 3 or 5 ply shells?

Can you compare the sound of those with a similar set in beavertail configuration?

Re: Red Sparkle Goodness

Don't you just love those three sizes together? Punchy bass and wide open toms. Sweet.

Re: how to re-close the grommet badge perfectly (?)

Purdie,

I don't think that works for the look Steff is looking for. What you show works for a Rogers grommet, but I don't think it will yield what he wants to see.

Re: WTB: Replacement Rubber Sleeves for Snare Basket

I bought some of those a while back just in case I ever needed them. Seems that sometimes things show up for a while then disappear, like the Rogers decals that were a film and not die-cut.

Re: This One's for You, PowerTone

Thanks guys, and special thanks to PowerTone for the inspiration. I gave glass glitter one try quite a few years ago. It's not easy to work with in my view. Precision did this work. Otherwise the...

Re: R.I.P., Aretha

Marvelous voice and sad to hear of her passing. As with Mark (idrum4fun), the same disease took my dad at 73. This is one of my personal favorites.

This One's for You, PowerTone

Here's a picture of a recently wrapped kit that was inspired by PowerTone's original Rogers bop kit in the same color. Early 1964 beavertail drums. They sound great.

Nice kit Austin. The rest of the band is going to have no trouble hearing you! Looks like thunder down under is coming their way.

Re: Rogers Red sparkle Drums

I'd do at least $750 with a 16x16 in similar condition. $500 is much better though. Sold separately they'd draw at least $200 each in my view. Then again, i have a fond spot for red sparkle. Looks as...

Re: Another Rogers Question

If you had a floor tom in perfect condition to add to it, and these two were in perfect condition, then maybe the price range above is correct. However, I'd say about $800 tops for the two B&B drum,...

Re: '68 Ludwig Super Classic blue oyster pearl

That is quite a kit. Not too, too many guys can say they still have a kit they ordered or even bought back then. I sure don't.

Re: Thoughts on Gretsch 'rock and roll' round badge kit

One word of caution: Gretsch drums in that era do not have reinforcing rings on the inside. Those toms are relatively heavy owing to the cast hoops and double tone controls. If the bass was used...
