Re: Interesting CL Ad In NJ

The ad is down already. I can't say I'd be surprised if he sold everything so quickly. We all know those were some great kits for the money.

Unless he realized he was giving them away and decided...

Re: I'm moving!!

I like the idea of a drum house!

I mean, my father hated hearing men say that some small room in a corner of the basement was their "man cave". He said the whole house was his man cave!Laughing H

Re: My First Vintage Cymbal

Yes it is! Glad to know somebody else's ear likes it as well. Admittadely, I didn't give much thought to Italian cymbals, always thinking if it wasn't of Turkish ancestry, Zildjian especially, it...

Re: My First Vintage Cymbal

I think I have it now. This might work.

Excuse the lousy sound, it's just a little mic on my cell phone and nothing else. I almost don't want to post it because they sound a lot better live.

Try drumfactorydirect.com

They have a good selection of grommets in a lot of sizes and colors, not to mention a lot of other cool stuff.

Re: Interesting CL Ad In NJ

That is tempting!

All 4 kits look to be really good deals. The Gretsch looks very tasty. Even the Tama looks like a heck of a great deal. You can almost tell that this seller must be a real...

Re: My First Vintage Cymbal

Thanks for asking, but I can't seem to upload an audio or video. My phone records audio in mp3 and the video is mp4, but the site doesn't seem to let me upload either.

Re: My First Vintage Cymbal

I agree, the ride does sound pretty awesome, and I'm really happy with it. It has a sweet tone. The 18" crash/ride does sound brighter and it is rather thick and heavy weighing in at 1814 grams....

Re: Dream Cymbals?

Yes, Impression Cymbals! I knew it was one of the newer Turkish cymbal companies.

I'm endorsing Kashian Cymbals these days. But, I'm having a hard time getting in touch with anyone at the company....

Re: Dream Cymbals?

No problem, good luck.

That Sabian sounds like the ticket, and 18" is the way to go with china's!

Re: My First Vintage Cymbal

Yay, another Kashian fan! It's me and you I guess! But I think I wiped eBay clean this week of Kashian cymbals, sorry! I went from none to four in a few days!Mind Blowi

Anyway, the 14" hi hats...

Re: Dream Cymbals?

I do like china's, however I agree that a 14" might not add a lot to your mix.

I also can't see spending to much on one, because they are meant to be trashy, so even a cheaper one can accomplish...

Re: I Want to Play Better

Kind of like taking the steering wheel off the car and saying, "ok, let's take her for a drive!"

I actually like the concept though. Can't fall into your routine so easy.

Re: My First Vintage Cymbal

So...I just made a deal for a 16" Kashian crash. That completes my Kashian set. Geez, it all happened so fast!

Nobody here seems to excited about Kashian cymbals, I guess because it's not a...

Re: I Want to Play Better

It's funny, I got bored with my practice pad and frustrated with rudiments and I stupidly put it away for awhile, but I just recently broke it out again to finally get my double stroke rolls down. I...

Re: Why Play Vintage?

Not sure if anybody hit on this, but I like the fact that vintage drums were actually built in their country of origin.

There was no doubt that Ludwig's and Slingerlands were made in America,...

Re: I Want to Play Better

Speaking of a drummer I'd like to play like - Tommy Igoe! Wow, that boy can drive a big band.

I'm not sure if johnnyringo will take your advice, but I will. I've heard about this book. Thanks.

Re: I Want to Play Better

The guy I linked to below, Carter McLean, is the type of drummer I'm trying to emulate. He's always so chill, and doesn't seem like he plays anything to technical or tough, but he's very creative and...

Re: I Want to Play Better

Yeah, she's ok I guess.;)

I know I'm the rookie here, and I should just shut up, but I often try to play faster than I'm able, or do a fill that I really can't quite pull off. I push the level...

Re: I Want to Play Better

Get out of your comfort zone.

I know that's easier said than done. I found that very hard to do when I was a guitar player, but it's the only way. If your only doing rock, than try some jazz. You...

Re: Dream Cymbals?

I don't know much about this brand of cymbals particularly, but unless its something special, it seems a bit high priced.

Check e bay and you'll see plenty of brand new 14" China cymbals for less...

Re: Questions on Staining 70s Ludwigs

You know, since there only a few small holes to worry about, you could get those magic markers for wood touch-ups. They really work pretty well for small things like holes. Find the color that...
