Re: Ludwig Speed King 2020 Reissue question.

There is a dedicated Speedking group on Facebook. Some people there have seen the new reissue, and it is very nice according to them. Also, the reissue is made in Taiwan, not the US like the previous...

Re: How Do You Restore A Speed King

Hopefully, it won't come to that. It seems scary to remove those pins.

Re: How Do You Restore A Speed King

Thanks, radioking, that is a very useful link. I will have a close look at the (very long) video and try to fix my pedal.

Re: How Do You Restore A Speed King

I will try your 2nd method. Your first suggestion was my first idea, but I checked it by doing what you suggest. The piston was in correctly. Thanks for the very interesting angle calculation, too!

Re: How Do You Restore A Speed King

Hi radioking,

Thanks for pitching in. Sorry to hear that your pedal was damaged during repair. In the case of my pedal, no such damage has been incurred, at least not during repair. My pedal has...

Re: How Do You Restore A Speed King

I have several Speedking pedals, since this is the only kind of pedal I use. I have renovated several of them, taking them apart, cleaning the innards, replacing the lube etc, so I am familiar with...

Premier Modern Classic Craviotto snare drum

I've never owned a Craviotto before, but recently a Premier snare drum with a Craviotto shell was up for grabs at a very reasonable price here in Sweden, so I bought it. It is a fantastic drum.

It...

Re: This is the Display Your Sonor Drums Thread

Hi frankie,

Nice kit. I see that you are using my ca 1958 kit to illustrate a "transition kit". I am cool with that. However, I think "early teardrop" is more appropriate, since - except for...

Re: Sonor Teardrop Spur Mount

Fairy dishwashing liquid and water. It is very good for cleaning chrome and metal parts, and I suppose it would eat through rust too. You soak stuff in it overnight.

Re: Sonor Teardrop Spur Mount

My bad about the bolt. My kit is quite a bit older than yours, so obviously the design changed in the interim.

I agree with Oddball that you should try soaking the whole assembly in some solvent...

Re: Sonor Teardrop Spur Mount

Yeah, these very early teardrops don't pop up very often. I was lucky to get my hands on one - and the same age as myself, funnily enough!

Re: Sonor Teardrop Spur Mount

That is a cymbal and/or spur mount from an early teardrop bass drum, like mine from 1958. The wing bolt is not original, though. The mount is the same as the cymbal mount on the attached pics of my...

Re: My 1980s 14x6.5 Hammered Bronze Supra

Hi Hoppy,

Your theory may certainly be right: About a year ago I had to take the lugs off the shell, and discovered that the stubs where the screws go were broken on about half of them, something...

My 1980s 14x6.5 Hammered Bronze Supra

This one is for Mark (idrum4fun), who helped me with tips and ideas for new hoops for my Hammered Bronze Supra, a drum which I bought used some years ago.

More likely than used, the drum had been...

Re: 14 inch Pearl Fat Tone hoops for snare drum

Mark, just to let you know: I got a pair of Gibraltar 2.3 mm hoops today. They were really affordable, too. And I just put them on the drum and tuned it up. And now she sings! I guess the old hoops...

Re: 14 inch Pearl Fat Tone hoops for snare drum

Hi Mark,

THanks for suggesting 2.3 mm hoops. Yes, Gibraltar are readily available here. I have a hunch, though, that the Fat Tones will be more in line with what I want to achieve. I have checked...

14 inch Pearl Fat Tone hoops for snare drum

I am looking for a pair of 14", 10 hole Pearl Fat Tone hoops, for snare drum, snare and batter side, preferably new, but as long as they are perfectly round and flat I am ok with used.

Price...

Re: Rogers Dyna-Sonic Snare Case

I use a regular 14 inch softcase by Protectionracket. It's a snug fit but works great. Also, Hardcase's 14 inch case does the job.

Best,

Hi Rural Audio,

I have a ca 1958 early teardrop kit. Like yours, it was in bad shape when I received it, so I had a professional drum builder repair it: plies had separated etc, it was a mess....
