Re: Trouble With Tinnitus

Yeah Mark, I've heard about the brain causing the ringing and not the ears, and I even went through a dreaded MRI, but they found nothing wrong. But I've also been told it can have something to do...

Re: Trouble With Tinnitus

So the Cad Audio DH100 headset that I ordered came in today, and so far so good!

These headphones are reasonably comfortable, they have pretty decent sound for what they are and they seem pretty...

Re: a couple of vintage 22" Zildjians

Well, they're not Kashian's, but they're nice, very nice! :p

I'd love to get a K someday, really sweet tone and articulation for jazz.

Re: Bop/Jazz Kits

Great point.

It cannot be easy being a gigging drummer in Manhattan! Buses, subways and cabs is not the easiest way to transport drums, and the cabs these days are sub compact jokes, not full size...

Re: Sabian, not Dream!

I think I mentioned in my post above that I never hit my china straight on. They are loud! I kind of side swipe it across the front to good effect, not to loud but you get the china sound.

I'd...

Re: NDD: New Drumset Day

I see you didn't waste anytime adding your new Tama set to your already impressive list of kits!

It's cool that after all your years of playing, you still get excited about a new kit!Yes Sir

Re: New Bearing Edges for MIJ

So all this talk got me thinking about doing the edges on my MIJ.

I took my own advice and did the flashlight check on 2 of my toms, and yeah, there are some issues. So I called Precision to get...

Re: NDD: New Drumset Day

Yeah, I read that in the sellers ad.

I find it hard to believe that a company with such a fine reputation as Gretsch could have had that sort of a problem, and it apparently went on like that for...

Re: Bop/Jazz Kits

Yeah, I almost bought one myself, and then I went all vintage. The Catalina is a nice set for a decent price.

Re: Bop/Jazz Kits

As heretical as the thought of buying new is, you are correct. Cool Dude

I could never pull the trigger on an old Gretsch bop kit, no matter how tasty I find them. Just way to expensive for what...

Re: Bop/Jazz Kits

Yeah, you said it right there. It's the cool factor. I agree. It seems as though guys that own true bop kits really get into the cool factor of owning one. You can pretty much get the same tuning,...

Re: Bop/Jazz Kits

Ok, that does make sense. The fewer made, the more the value, obviously.

I feel for Roy James, as I owned a 79 Spider for some 20 years, and just sold it. Yeah, good luck getting a standard kit in...

Bop/Jazz Kits

So help me out here, why does any kit with the word bop or jazz in it go for twice what other standard size kits go for? I mean, why does any kit with an 18" bass drum go for stupid dollars? One...

Re: Kashian China Cymbal

You could buy a whole set Jim, just leave that one china east of Sardinia for me please! :D

There's nothing not to like about these cymbals IMHO. That whole roto-casting process is fascinating and...

Re: NDD: New Drumset Day

I see the Gretsch ad was taken down.

I'm not surprised, that was a real beauty for a very fair price.

Sardinia? Geez, I should have picked one up while I was stationed there! 1983, US Air Force. Paradise. I was the luckiest airman in the world to land that assignment. Ahhhh....memories! CryBaby

Re: Kashian China Cymbal

Thanks for that, but I'm only looking for the Kashian china. I'm strictly a Kashian guy...for now! :p

That Atlas 2000 is a budget line of UFIP cymbals, so I don't see him getting anywhere near his...

Re: NDD: New Drumset Day

Great buy there Bob. It's hard to find an old stencil kit for that kind of money these days. That kit looks great to. Good luck!

I do like that Gretsch, and the Slingerland as well, that he's...

Kashian China Cymbal

So I recently started collecting a set of Kashian cymbals, which are Italian made, UFIP cymbals built for Slingerland back in the 60s and 70s. Very nice cymbals IMHO.

All I need now is the china,...

Re: Sabian, not Dream!

There are a lot of options to china cymbals these days I think.

Quite a few cymbal makers have some seriously dark and dry cymbals that do a nice job of giving a trashy china-like sound without...

Re: Sabian, not Dream!

I have and use a china cymbal.

Its a cheapo Zildjian zbt, but it really does the job IMHO. It's bright, loud and cutting and I rarely hit it full-on, instead I glance across the front edge so it...

I'm not quite picturing what your talking about. Can you elaborate? It sounds interesting.
