Re: 1920's Ludwig Black Beauty - Wave Pattern

Nice drum! I assume there is something affixed to the shell to hold the light socket?

Re: Slingerland Snare

You can clean the nickel in Dawn and water to get the schmuck off the metal. Cape Cod cloths are what I use to polish nickel. Takes lots of effort but they can really polish the nickel up better...

Re: ludwig pioneer vs. jazzfest

Another thing to consider is how high you tune your drums. You might not want the pioneer if you really like higher tunings. It is hard to get those 6 lugs cranked without inflicting some damage to...

Re: ludwig pioneer vs. jazzfest

Pioneer has 6 lugs. Jazz Fest has 8. Many times a Pioneer will have nickel plated hardware. Pioneers also have the plastic tabbed snare wires.

Re: Slingerland Blacl Sparkle Pearl

I've followed a couple auctions recently and both had cracking issues with the wrap. One was a Radio King snare and another was a set.

Got any cracks?

Re: Picked up a old engraved Ludwig Brass snare.....

They should. I got a snare side head for my 20's Luddy and it fit great. They aren't oversized by a whole bunch.

Or you could just...

Re: Picked up a old engraved Ludwig Brass snare.....

Be careful with those clips. They are fragile. I wonder if they make copper reproductions for playing. I bought nob clips for my Luddy 4x14 and put the originals away for safe keeping.

Re: Proline Utility Snare Rack

I bought 2 and have one currently set up. They are pretty nice. It was a nice way to get the snare clutter thing taken care of.

Re: If you could.......

Rogers: How about a Rogers 12,14,20 Mardis Gras Beavertail Kit. A Tower kit would be cool too. I have the matching snare for that.

Camco: Any 12,14, 20 kit in a sparkle...

Re: 1970's Rogers Drums questions

Be sure to budget in getting machined collet noses if the kit has cast collet noses. Those era drums are great but the cast collet noses aren't!

Re: '65 Pioneer lug screws w/ copper washers .?.

Same here. I have a pre-serial School Festival. I soaked the screws / washers and noticed the copper washers after all the oxidation came off.
