Re: To Mic Or Not To Mic

Mr. Ringo....

The mature way....record a show doing it the guitarist's way, then, record a show doing it your way. You both, then, watch/listen to the shows together. Pick the method that sounds...

Re: Rogers Holiday Blue Strata 13" Tom, Dayton Era

Mr. Boombip, I own a blue strata set and they are very rare. Blue strata was produced 1967-1972 (we know, there will be exceptions). Your Dayton tom would be close to '67. Very very rare. That finish...

Re: Back in the Day Stories!!!

I met Dave Grohl and he told me that he cracked a 28 inch ride cymbal. Im still amazed by that one. Chad Smith pushed my 1990 Astro van back and forth at an after hours club in Detroit while his lady...

Re: Rogers Endorsers

Great grooves from Earl Young. I love TSOP jams. Thanks for pointing that out.

Re: Rogers Endorsers

I believe the house studio kits, for both Motown and Stax, were Rogers with Ludwig snare drums. So, Rogers were on a lot more rock n roll records than one might think.

Re: SJC Drums

Johnny Ringo, those drum sizes for the SJC, do not seem to blend with the music you play in your band. That rack seems real small.

Re: LATE 70s LUDWIG BLACK PANTHER

Old School, you never cease to amaze. I wasn't a big fan of that finish, until now.

Re: Rogers Big R

I actually would like to buy this kit. I just can't justify buying another drumset. This set would be perfect for shows...for me.

Re: Late 50's Gretsch Round Badge Restoration

That's a beautiful drum set. The Merlot finish is very vibrant.

Re: Ian paice.

An interesting Ian Paice kit was this one from 1975. 18x26 bass, 16x18 and 18x20 floor toms, 10x14 rack and 6 concert toms. (of course the 6 1/2 x 14 supraphonic). The drums were hand painted by his...

Re: Rogers question: finishes & sizes

That's the bummer part...there are loose blue strata toms out there, but, the price is very steep. I stumbled into my kit in 2001. It was a fluke. Scour Craig's List in hopes of a break on a drumset....

Re: Rogers question: finishes & sizes

I own a Rogers Blue Strata drum set. It's from 1969 and the wrap is perfect. It's a real rare wrap for Rogers. The time frame is '67-72 (I know, there's wiggle room, it's Rogers) and it wasn't a big...

Re: Rogers For Ludwigw

None of these drummers play Ludwig anymore. I kid (two are dead). One could also mic a drumset or ,God forbid, ask the guitar player to turn down.

I have both brands and there are sound...

Re: What can I get for my Fibes?

I have a feeling you have seen this auction, but...just in case. Here's a link to kit that is close to yours...one less tom. I was wondering, from the picture of your set, it looks like there are...

Re: Rogers Holidays Sound

What type of drum heads are you using? I use(ed) coated ambassadors on all the Roger kits I have ever owned. Always perfect. If your ear is geared a certain way, clear ambassadors or clear pinstripes...

Re: Thoughts on steel snares

I sold a similar snare to a customer of mine, but, I think it was made out of melted down Paiste cymbal alloy. It was sooooo heavy. I had to use a hand cart to bring the snare out to his car. He...

Re: Trying to find out what drum series this Ludwig is.

I'm 41. My wife is sweet. She met me at a show I was playing 20 years ago. She knows the drill, I just have to be reasonable. 109 drum sets would still be very trying for her, though. No matter what...

Are you married? If so, can I get some advice on how to keep more drumsets?

Yeah, I saw that one, that's where I took the picture. I wanted to give my money to someone on this board. Good eye!

Re: 1965 Rogers Buddy Rich Celebrity's

I always love Tommy P's collection on this site. Thank you. Can we get a funny Buddy Rich type picture of a towell on the second floor tom?
