Re: Yamaha SD-065MB snare?

It is indeed a Recording Custom, 9000 series, late 1970s or early 1980s (I think those were produced in between 1978-83). It's Yamaha's version of a Super Sensitive, with a parallel mechanism for the...

Re: Pearl 1950s kits

To be honest, I've never seen a 1950s Pearl drum, but I think almost all of the MIJ items back then were made of luan. Then again, I'm no expert.

Re: Dynasonic Badge Question

Can't say I've seen many Dynas (especially wood), but they all had screws, nuts and washers for the badge, no pins. And yes, 20xxx is Dayton era (according to the Rogers forum guides).

Re: Radioking??

Thanks for the info guys. Yes Mark, I think this was one of yours. I'm only calling it 'student' because this is what I've found it to be called - like I said, so far my knowledge of old Slingies is...

Re: Radioking??

More pics. There seems to be a signature of some kind inside the shell - and a pencil mark on the re-ring, so either this was wrapped originally or was going to be wrapped at some point.

Radioking??

So I got this almost by accident - I didn't actually expect to win the auction, but here it is :) Just the shell, no hardware of any kind. Now I don't know much about Slingies of that era, but I did...

Re: Restoration Question

I can't be 100% sure, but those look very much like Sonor Sonic Plus, late 1990s. If yes, then you've got some seriously good drums there (I used to have one of those, I know). 100% German 6-ply and...

Re: anyone know this?

I saw something like that on e-bay a while ago... Looks European to me, but beyond that... no clue.

Re: Unknown vintage set

The lugs are definitely Amati, the bass T-rods are not - most likely old Premier/Olympic. Not entirely sure about the shells, but I think this may be a mix-and-match set.

Re: Vintage(?) Premier Dating Help!!!!

Not an expert on Premiers (there are people in here that know much more), those badges do look like 1970s - if they are untampered. The floor tom has the typical Premier lugs of that era, while the...

Re: More Sonor Tigers

Hey Henk, always nice of you to chime in :)

I was specifically talking about the logo found on the mounts - the BD mount as well as the tom mount (or rosette, as people sometimes call them), not...

Re: Restoring a Sonor TD Tiger kit

Pics of the bare shell. The center of it is slightly bent inwards on the badge side; if it weren't for the re-rings, I'd probably be dealing with an out-of-round drum here. There are signs of mould,...

Re: Restoring a Sonor TD Tiger kit

Pics of the hardware. As expected, the worst part is the washers: really rusty, some of the smaller ones crumbled when removed. The rest look like they'll come around after a nice bath. Any ideas on...

Re: Restoring a Sonor TD Tiger kit

As I mentioned in the other thread, someone's spilled something on the tom, and it's run down the mount side of it damaging the wrap slightly. It reminds me of a burn mark that has healed. I hope you...

Restoring a Sonor TD Tiger kit

OK, I thought it best to continue with this here, the original thread is that one:

Re: Olympic by Premier Mahogany Duroplastic Snare

Are those lugs early 1970s?? I've only seen them on late 1970s/early 1980s drums... Just a thought.

Whatever the age, this is a great drum you have there.

Re: FYI teardrop owners

Well, I got a couple of those to use on snares and I can't say I'm very happy with the sound - too dry for my taste. So not much of a loss there for me - thanks for the heads-up though....

You...

Re: Tricky Trixon Project

To me, these look s-t-u-n-n-i-n-g, period. Croc wrap is just out of this world, it makes me drool. Way to go man, fantastic job you did there. The matching tom was a stroke of luck, too... :) I...

Re: More Sonor Tigers

Nope, it's pre-1965 alright... Off-center mount, mallet logos, the slotted screws shown below - the BD mount doesn't even have a screw, but a wingnut. I hope the threads are OK...

I'm a little...

Re: Yet another "what is this snare drum"

I've seen this before on this forum - an Asian no-name drum sold at a department store (Sears?) sometime in the late 80s-early 90s. That's all I remember...
