Re: Sonor Teardrop 3 ply x 6 ply

Either well work fine. Don't get to caught up in it, play both, go with what feels/sounds best to you.

60's MIJ kit, missing wrap and other parts, $100.00 MAX, imo.

Re: WTB: 24x14 Ludwig Pre Serial Bass Drum

Wrong section. There's a dedicated 'WTB'.

Re: anyone selling 1960s pearl tigers eye kit?

I'd suggest try posting this on one, or all, of the vintage MIJ Facebook groups.

Re: Newbie who just inherited Premier set from Uncle for son.

Eh, the 60's Acro's are worth getting excited about, unless the "collector" is just a pretentious hobbyist ;)

Re: Newbie who just inherited Premier set from Uncle for son.

His is a 69, so that would make sense. I love the baseball bat one though.

Re: Newbie who just inherited Premier set from Uncle for son.

That appears to be a 60's era Ludwig Acrolite snare, 8 lug, aluminum shell, Keystone badge. Very cool drum. They were considered a "student line" drum, back in the day, but are very popular nowadays....

Re: Newbie who just inherited Premier set from Uncle for son.

Welcome to VDF.

This post covers everything, pretty much. I have a very similar kit, same finish. Like others have said, you have a very cool kit there. 1970's Premier drums, especially early to...

Re: Aquamarine Premier Set Found: Value?

There's some misinformation here.

Pre-international sizes are only for certain years (usually up to late 60's, and certain drums), mine are international, they fit regular heads, no issues.

Re: Aquamarine Premier Set Found: Value?

Pictures of all the items would help.

Sadly, Premier, like most MIE kits don't hold a high value, compared to MIA sets. Higher them MIJ kits, but not as high as you'd probably hope for.

I got...

Re: Premier 2000 / Olympic snare parts match?

Hmm...not sure, but I'm going to guess no. You can get 2000 snares for very decent prices these days, I've had two, paid very little. If you really want to go that route, some on here might know...

Re: Crest Snare

I hear that lol. That's cool, neat little snare. Since you're going to keep it, it's worth putting some love into. One thing that can help MIJ snares sound better is treating the wood with something,...

Re: Audition Drums

MIJ. Looks to be in nice shape, cool wrap. I like the maple bass drum hoops, looks like the owner put some time and money into it.

Re: Crest Snare

Yup, MIJ snare. Cleaned up, in the $50.00 range. I wouldn't worry about doing a crazy, tear it apart, cleaning...just a good intact one.

Re: 50's 6 lug Olympic Snare Thoughts

Oh cool! Nick is a good source, for sure. 12"? Interesting. Do they say "New Era-Made in England" on them? If so, probably still original...if not, then probably replacement wires.

If you wanted...

Re: I picked up some Premiers-Trying to date them?

Good luck getting an exact year/date, but I'd say earlier 70's, based on tom mount, hardware, etc. Like others have said, knowing the wood type helps as well.

Enjoy!

Edit: Just noticed you...

Re: 50's 6 lug Olympic Snare Thoughts

Blair Holden on here, has a Premier slotted key for sale. I think he was asking $20 or $25 for it. He's in Michigan. A quarter works as well ;) In fact, that was the whole premise behind slotted...

Re: 50's 6 lug Olympic Snare Thoughts

Hey Wes!

I remember that snare. Glad to see you giving it some love. Ok, here's some information for you:

- That drum is from the last 50's. It's hard to find them (over here, anyways),...

Re: Sonor Signature Bubinga

$9500.00 CDN (after 12% "price drop"), been listed for a year, over 3600 views, pick up only...you do the math. The market has spoken.
