Ludwig Tension Rod Question

Iím trying to find out the original standard tension rod lengths for my 1965 Ludwig Super Classic. I have a 12 inch rack Tom with mini super classic lugs, a 13 inch rack Tom and a 16 inch floor Tom...

Here is the next 5 and you can see where I tapped the holes in the snare butt. They are the outside holes

Here are the next 5 photos. The second photo shows the crud that came out after chasing the threads. You can also see where I am putting the felt around the spring in the lug.

What started as a simple change out of a P85 throw off for the new P88AC throw off expanded a bit but still a pretty fast project.

Thanks, I’ll start a new thread. I, of course, am saving the P85 throw off and butt plate. I use this snare all the time so it’s not a collectors item.

I started out just changing out the P85 throw off with the P88AC. I tapped the unthreaded...

Thanks, I have some white lithium grease on hand. I plan to use it on the lugs.

I recommend sending them to Precision Drum in New York. They have to proper equipment to do the work. Good luck with your quest.

Yes, you’re correct. Since I had to tap the holes to match the snare butt holes on my Supraphonic, the provided screws were too long so I made my own hard rubber washer.

I bought a Ludwig P88AC throw off to use on my 1970 Supraphonic. There are no installation instructions or parts list included and I can't find anything on the web. I think it is missing 2 small...

Finding hardware can be difficult and expensive. If you’re able to save drums to play them, I say go for it. Of course I would like to see photos of the various projects you would undertake.

Ludwig was cranking out so many drums in the mid-60’s that it’s more than likely a mistake at the factory.

Thanks for the help. The veneer is also peeling away from the shell near the strainer and wear the center supports are, the veneer is indented. I think it has some kind of clear coat on it...
