Re: Future Vintage?

Yamaha kits from the 80's NOT in the power tom configuration I wouldn't think twice about buying. Great look, great hardware, superior craftsmanship.

I'm into 60's Ludwig, Rogers when I can find...

Re: Is Chroming Nickel Hardware A Detrimental Modification

No plans to sell. Just want to get it in top notch collector condition. Not going to chrome. Makes more sense to find another pre-serial FT and switch ... but hearing and knowing how much interest...

Re: 90th

I would. These 90th / 40th / 25th ... anniversary anything should be looked at sideways unless they are so stellar to make you look straight on. I think a friend of mine has a couple 'th snares and...

Re: 90th

Haven't seen nor heard it but am of mind that the only way to go is the real deal. Of course, you need to be able to afford it. But : so many buy drum x to at a minimum hold its value, my guess at...

Re: Is Chroming Nickel Hardware A Detrimental Modification

Everything that came with it is nickel. Will more than likely skip chroming but will search for chrome period parts. I really do not like changing from original condition.

Re: Is Chroming Nickel Hardware A Detrimental Modification

... forgot to add : that very particular collectors get bladder infections if everything isn't right with Ringo drums/kits ... red mufflers where Ringo's was red, badges in the middle for pre-serial...

Re: Is Chroming Nickel Hardware A Detrimental Modification

Good morning, Gary.

If the consensus was that switched period hardware was a serious crime I'd note it (CHROMED nickel parts done NOW would definitely be noted by me). Part of the reason I would...

Re: Is Chroming Nickel Hardware A Detrimental Modification

Mike, K.O., gunnellett ...

Very interesting! The nickel I've not polished with Cape Cod cloths but it is in such good condition that chroming it is a consideration ONLY because of Ringo's Kit #1....

Re: Is Chroming Nickel Hardware A Detrimental Modification

In the chroming process nickel is the penultimate process before chroming is done so seems acceptable to go one step further to chrome since any Ringo nut will pi$$ & moan that it's nickel.

Is Chroming Nickel Hardware A Detrimental Modification

Have a 1963 Pre-serial OBP 14 floor tom with mint nickel hardware and am wondering if chroming it would be a negative for collectors. Already have polished with Novus 1 + 2.

I think it would be a...

Re: Calling all Rogers Experts!

Yeah, I don't know about that. Seems to me to be a straight up custom order on the bass drums - nothing converted. Been wrong before. The 20" DEPTH is definitely very odd as most BD's are 14" or 16"....

Re: Calling all Roges Experts!

Been listed for a while. Probs a negative on the custom bass size and the toms are 13's rather than 12's - 16" + 20" FT's not ideal. Snare's where it's at, IMO.

Spot welding fissures / cracks in cymbal bell???

Is it a thing to have a very talented welder spot weld a cymbal that has the beginnings of hairline fissures / cracks at the cymbal hole?

Re: 60's Ludwig bpd downbeat snare on the way

ORIGINAL BDP ~ rewrapping will kill value. (prices on OBP downbeat snares are greatly elevated; dear Ringo never played one so what gives? A JF is another matter entirely.)

Get under the lifted...

Re: 61' Ludwig Sky Blue Pearl (Pre-serial Keystone)

I'm sure that's exactly true, Gary. Look, just giving my 2 cents and hoping that these 2 guys can bury the hatchet.

I'm not immune, as many well know, from getting testy. BUT Verminator got the...

Re: 61' Ludwig Sky Blue Pearl (Pre-serial Keystone)

I don't know either Purdie or Verminator but only here as invisible men.

As a seller this sort of thing would not be fun. But as a buyer I'd have the same feelings seeing the same kit up...

Re: Vintage 1960's Ludwig drum set

This seems like a hostage situation where a photo's provided of the "victim," demands are made by the original poster, and contact, by me, has been made with no response heard back.

Is this...
