To prevent further splitting of the bottom hoop. I won't need to drill any new holes to mount the strainer. I will a simple brass adapter plate.

CT - Thanks for posting that. It's in amazing condition. I like the strainer on there. Did you add that? I was thinking of adding something like that, as long as I don't have to make new holes.

Just got this from the Chicago Drum Show from Wood & Weather Drum Shop (http://woodandweatherdrumshop.com/).

1912 (there about) Lyon & Healy snare. 15"x4", 20 lugs. Seems to be all original...
