Re: Pearl B4514 Resto-Mod

The Police - Voices Inside My Head - YouTube

I must have worn the grooves right down playing over this track as a kid. Pure obsession! That snare sound literally became the "voice inside my head"...

Re: Pearl Jupiter Resto-Mod

Tommy covered it. Your rehab looks great! Also my absolute favourite snare. It ends up with the most stand time in the long run, sounds fantastic under mics & won't break the bank.I've always played...

Re: Premier Help ... Please

Yes, what Dukekaya said. They are good intermediate drums, solidly built with a nice tone.

Re: 20"x11 1/2" kick drum. Premier?

Glad to help out! I'm pretty sure though that the snare is a Slingerland copy made in Japan, probably Pearl or Star (pre-Tama). I can see the wood grain (lauan or philippines mahogany) running...

Re: Date range on a Gretsch snare

If it is like a Renown snare I'd grab it & throw some Gretsch diecast rims on there. The Renowns are outstanding for their price point & really do have that "Great Gretsch Sound".

Re: Japanese Tension Rods

Another source for t-rods with this threading is First Act children's drum kits (and probably other asian kid's kits) in a pinch.

Re: 20"x11 1/2" kick drum. Premier?

The kick looks like it could be a John Grey drum. The snare is definitely MIJ. The other tom, no idea....looks British/European, wish I could help more.

Re: Drum Companies and Their Worst Ideas

I'm actually looking for a kick drum from one of these. Tomorrow night I'm gigging in a bar that recently had complaints from new (and beheadable IMO) neighbours. I have 6 gigs there over the winter...

Re: Pearl Jupiter/B4514 brass or steel?

A few of us here have nothing but love for these COB Pearls (Hey TommyP! How'd I know you'd be here?) & that's a nice B4514L for sale. I've owned a couple B4514's and a deeper B-714D & just finished...

WFL 16" WMP players floor tom

First off, yes it's a great sounding drum, but definitely players grade not a collection piece. This drum was painted black over the wrap & painted silver inside. I stripped the black off the wrap...

Re: Dating Rogers Holiday kit and Dyna-Sonic snare

Yup, it was pretty common practice at Rogers to use another models' tag. scratch the model name and handwrite new info.

Your kit has faded to a neat colour, I must say. The inlay on the hoops of...

Re: Rogers Swivomatic

Apart from missing hoop inlay (unless the hoops have been switched, my eyesight used to be fantastic..) & swapped out floor tom legs my eyes aren't seeing anything "non-authentic". Bowtie T-rods &...

Re: Looking for info on studio kit.

Yup, those Sonor Phonics are seriously well made drums with both great tone & projection. A little heavy to be lugged around the world on gigs IMHO, so what better place for them to live than a...

Re: New Rogers haul!

I got a Worldmax floor tom cradle today and since I don't have any decent shots of this kit set up I decided to drag it all out in the yard.

Thanks guys! Bess You, John! Here's a quick low quality vid just for ****s & giggles. The toms are still tuned low for friday's gig, but they sounded huge like that through a PA. I probably should...

Re: New Rogers haul!

Again , not the best pics. I'll have to take them outdoors...but I gave in & thanks to a surprise run of gigs I'm able to keep them! The 14 x 10 works just fine as a floor tom & is almost more...
