Re: Original or rewrap??

I think it's original. The reissue oyster wraps don't look that good. The abalone doesn't stand out in the new stuff. As long as it's really the drum in the photos I think you're good (those low...

Re: Black or Blue Oyster Pearl?

This isn’t from the Craigslist ad in New York claiming to have an OBP Jazz Fest for $1, is it? Your Imgur link no longer works but it looked a lot like that photo from what I remember.

The drum...

Re: Wrap Fading 1964 Ludwig

Man, genuine first generation oyster black is absolutely magical. I never get tired of seeing it. I still remember looking at this photo below and being completely enamored with the finish as a kid....

Re: Weird A$$ Question

It's common to develop cysts at the base of your tailbone that only present when they're irritated. You might look into that.

Re: Ludwig snare wires

My early '80s Acrolite also has plastic ends. My early '70s Supra has the metal ends, but not like Rob's. There's only two holes on each end on mine.

Re: Purdie and The Beatles

Purdie is a liar. Whether hes demented is immaterial because he was telling the lie before he got old and lost his mind.

Re: Ludwig Standard Student Kit

You're right about the aluminum shell being the same as an Acrolite shell without the bead, but the wood shell Standards are the same shell as a Jazz Fest, so they go for quite a bit more as plenty...

Re: Decisions Decisions

I believe that 12x8 has classic lugs on it. The gap between the top and bottom lugs is too small. It should look like the drum on the left. If that's the case there will be anywhere from 12 to 24...

Re: Superficial Drum Pet Peeves

I hate seeing modern hardware with a vintage kit. There's nothing worse than seeing a beautiful Downbeat set up with double-braced Pearl stands that weigh 10 pounds.

I also hate when people put...

Re: Canada Day, Part Two

Would legal weed increase the rate of stoned drivers that much? People who are already regularly smoking pot aren't going to change their habits and start driving around with it just because it's...

Re: Snare Identification

Might be one of these. I wonder what the value would be without the original top hoop and in average condition.

Snare Identification

What do y'all think this is? Does it ring any bells for anyone? The owner thinks it's a Ludwig but I don't know myself. Hoping to get better pictures sent to me but it doesn't look promising.

Re: Vintage Ludwig Kit 3 ply? Help?

I'd say it's all but certain. There are even Keystone kits with the curved spurs, but there's of course always crossover. Still, I'm sure someone's seen a '60s stamped kit with curved spurs.

Re: Ludwig snare input please

I'm not too familiar with Ludwig models outside of the Supra, Acro, Jazzfest and Pioneer... but there seems to be a lot of fishiness going on with this drum.
