Re: Gretsch Renown?

Ok, I just (re)discovered the Gretsch dating guide:dating guideI'd actually found this many months ago but never read in its entirety, then forgot about it. Here's a somewhat blurry closeup of my...

Re: Gretsch Renown?

Awesome, thank you both. It's obviously a 4103, and now I feel like a moron since the model # is stamped on the paper tag.

Does the serial number help determine approximate age?

Gretsch Renown?

I'm not well versed in Gretsch drums at all...yet this 5x14 wood WMP round badge has been my go to snare for years. Bought it off ebay and picked it up from a music store in Maryland (can't even...

Re: Zim Gar snare - decent price?

The toms and bass drums can be made to sound very good, however. So considering how well many MIJ drums (in general, not necessarily the snares, which I agree don't sound very good) age, I'm not...

Re: Zim Gar snare - decent price?

Good call. I wouldn't pay anywhere close to $100 for any MIJ snare of that caliber. I paid $60 including shipping for a 6-lug Star brand snare from ebay, only because it had some fairly uncommon...

Re: Rogers wmp holiday kit

I wonder if you'd garner more interest if you took photos of the kit setup with all the hardware and sold both lots as one full set. It'd be a shame to separate those stands from the set as both are...

Re: What is a good price for this vintage Rogers set??

See, I think 2.5k is a pretty reasonable offer. By no means did I think the seller will fetch $4k, but felt it's a somewhat reasonable ask given all that's included. It may be "just a Londoner" but...

Re: What is a good price for this vintage Rogers set??

Yeah, I'm always skeptical when I see Rogers drums at a much higher than average price, but after seeing what's included, $4k doesn't seem unreasonable. All original stands, pedals, throne, Rogers...

Re: An Estate Sale Find

You're correct, it's up to you based on your personal taste. I know many purists wouldn't touch the hoops, but others would. Personally speaking, I think it depends on the drum. If it's truly a...

Re: Rogers Buddy Rich Drums

Exactly what I was thinking. My Dayton era 1969 Londoner has tags from all over--12" is Fullerton, 13" is Dayton, and 20" is Cleveland (16" is tagless). They just used whatever tags they had...

Re: Leban Drums

I found the kit you're looking at. Very cool finish, but in my opinion not worth the asking price. Seems like it's priced that high because of the rare wrap, but man...I'd expect to see a complete...

Re: 1967 Vintages Rogers left hand kit

I'll also pile on and say much better photos are needed. The only way I can tell it's a Blue Onyx kit is because your post says it is...

Re: My Ludwig kit is finished ...

One thing I've learned is not to apologize for making yourself happy about the look of your drums. Sure, you'll never please everyone, and the purists may break out in hives, and depending on what...

Re: Rogers Swivo Mount

What amosguy said. I bought a couple Yamaha arms (the exact one in your photo) to mount my Rogers drums on a rack years ago, and the tapered part fits in the mount, but won't go further without a...

Re: Thoughts on mixing 50s & Modern HHs?

If you like the sound, that's all that matters. The great thing about percussion (i.e. creating a sound by hitting something with something else) is the practically unlimited amount of stuff you can...

Re: Badges are getting expensive!

Doesn't "juice" in this instance simply mean to overcharge? It's a metaphor, like juicing an orange..."squeezing money from." I don't think it's that big a deal.

Re: Camco Oaklawn complete Drum set for sale 12, 12, 14, 18, 14

Most likely the files were larger than the max size allowed (see attached image). Can you reduce the size and try reposting? I'm not interested in purchasing the kit as it's way out of my price...

Re: Rogers Set

Whoa, I missed the $1600 bit. I agree with the assessments above. You could get a decent unmolested kit, possibly with a Rogers snare included, for that kind of cash.

Re: Rogers Set

What you have is a Top Hat outfit (designated by the two 12" toms). My Rogers Londoner set has tags with crossed out model names, and "Holiday" written in. All three tags (my floor tom is tagless)...

Re: Guy Asking $975 For Tempro Set: Is He On Drugs?

Awesome, very glad DrumBob scored this set. I'm also happy to hear the seller is not on drugs as I initially suspected. :)The original selling price was absolutely unreasonable, therefore it stands...
