Re: Slingerland Drum research, help!

Welcome to the forum. You have heard from two of the best here. Serials suggest second half of '70 on the three WMP drums and '71 on the snare. Just for fun I'm going with this being a Krupa 1N...

Re: Slingerland Black Diamond Pearl

Nice job tracking down those extra pieces. Vintage stands and spur should not be too hard to find. Post a picture when you get it all set up.

Re: Slingerland Black Diamond Pearl

Wood snare would have been available as an option with your kit. Having a correct wood snare should increase the value of your set over the Krupa COB. You will want to find a #153 Artist snare in...

Re: Slingerland Black Diamond Pearl

Looking real good. Not much restoration needed on this '71ish set. You may need to buy another project though. Enjoy.

ATeam is on it, later 40's Concert King. Check out this old thread with posts by Dr CJ Wenk for all the details.

Re: 1966 Slingerland "Modern Solo # 2R" Outfit

The lack of interest is mostly indicative of the overall lethargic Slingerland market. Your kit in particular will also be held back by the burn damage on the BD and the modifications to the snare. ...

Not an expert on this finish but those two wraps don't match.

Re: Slingerland 5 ply

According to Dr CJ Wenk the 5-ply shell was introduced in '72. It was used on TDR marching snares and appeared on orchestra and kit snares. It was also available as an option for toms and bass...

Re: Ludwig Atlas stand weight removal

Also likely the tube expanded resulting in a looser interference fit with the weight. I used this trick in reverse yesterday to install a press fit Chrysler harmonic damper. Works like a charm.

Nice find and it looks like a 20" also. Hunt down some orphan toms.

Re: Slingerland 5.5x14 Super Gene Krupa - Silver Sparkle I came across

Looks good. No date stamp. Badge to the right of the throw would indicate late '60 to early '61. Tone control is 180 degrees across from badge?

Re: Slingerland Spirit

My guess is early 90's on those Spirits. My advise is to pass on these. Hold out for genuine Niles era drums which can still be bought quite reasonably. If you really want some Spirits buy them...

Re: New Drum Day! 50's Slingerland Radio King (floor tom recommendations needed)

Sparkling blue pearl was a very popular finish. You should be able to locate a matching floor tom.

Re: Question for Slingerland Folks

What model is the snare? Solid shell with clamshell strainer or entry level? Hoops on BD look redone and inlay is cracked. Minor I know but what other issues may be hiding there? FT will be tough...

Re: 1966 Slingerland "Modern Solo # 2R" Outfit

Good looking kit. Are all the drum interiors chocolate milk stained? Bass and FT also? Which drum has the date stamp and what is it? Thanks.

Re: Question for Slingerland Folks

And a great wrap for you as usual. A more upper level kit than the Swing Master with that bass drum (separate tension lugs). We'll be waiting for all the details. Good luck!
