Re: Question regarding re-wrapping and old glue

Personally I prefer sanding. Course paper, yes it's messy too sometimes, the old adhesive melts and gums up the paper but it's still the fastest and easiest method I've tried.

Re: Removing double sided tape residue on a bare shell-Will not be re-wrapping

Sanding is the easiest way... yes it gums up the paper. You might as well use coarser paper because you have a lot of sanding ahead of you before that shell is anywhere near ready for clearcoat.

Re: Cocktail Kit

I've made a few using 16X16 floor toms. The height comes out perfect for a sit-down Cocktail kit but if you want it stand up, you'd have to attach the snare or "floor tom" over top of the "bass/tom"...

Re: Bearing Edge Repair Question!

While it could be fixed with a suitable filler.... It won't make any difference. I'd ignore it if it was me.

I just had to show this one as it's one of our best custom wood grains yet. I can't take credit for the design, it was created with guidance by the customer.

I hope to get some pictures of the...

Re: Must remove original grommet to flatten badge. Worth it?

I'm prone to fixing stuff but after seeing the pics, I don't think that's bad enough to warrant fixin'. Another vote to leave it be!

New finish suitable for Vintage Restomization?

Just came up with this one. I'm going to use it on a set of old maple shells I have. Kinda' has a 70's vibe to it.

Re: Question ?

No Tamas or Pearls were made of MDF. I think you are confusing the inner coating with "Press wood" Tama used to coat some lines with "Zola coat". Pearl had a similar coating called Accousti-coat.

Re: Question ?

If you mean the zola-coat on the inside, it's just a coating. The drum shells are real wood. Pearl had a similar coating referred to as Accousticoat. As well as fiberglass lining on the President and...

Re: Advice on cleaning / maintaining Drums Kit

I take them completely apart. All metal parts go in the dishwasher, or if they're really grungy/rusty they get washed in the sink the old fashioned way. Then they get polished with automotive chrome...
