Re: New Project! Big Fat 70s Luddys

1) I think the wrap will push it down but if you're worried put some wood glue on the area and clamp it down with some wax paper between clamp and shell.

2) The nick is tiny and won't make a...

...unless he switched to Vistalites because of shell-shock...nah.

Re: Happy Holidays

Gorgeous kit and Happy Holidays to you sir.

I was never a fan of Rogers for the silly reason that the lug design seemed too heavy and "macho", compared to the other three of the big four. I...

Re: 1968 Kit in Mahogany stain - Mahogany shells or Maple?

I would think not, and yes that edge looks way flat. Good news is you can bring it back with a re-finish and edge re-cut. Keep us posted...

Re: 1968 Kit in Mahogany stain - Mahogany shells or Maple?

Mostly mahogany except for painted or maple finish shells I think. The wrap adhered better to the more grainy mahogany is what I've read here.

As far as I know you can't really get rid of the...

Re: 1968 Kit in Mahogany stain - Mahogany shells or Maple?

Yes the kick and floor tom finish look original to me. Rack re-finish was a total fail but I'll bet you can get it to match the other two, or someone can...

Re: Rogers Weekend Find

Good point, though it might get crowded with the rack and ride cymbal there too. :)

Just riffing on your comment which I thought was funny in a good way.

Re: I Have Never "Gotten" Ludwig Drums

Me neither - shouldn't they be called "Lugwid"? Y'know, because of the lugs?

Fully aware this joke is not that funny.

Re: Rogers Weekend Find

Absolutely gorgeous kit and might I add the holy grail IMHO. I would probably try to get the tilters Leedy mentioned, to get things a little more centered, although maybe not quite in my lap. :)

Re: 1968 Kit in Mahogany stain - Mahogany shells or Maple?

I'm tempted to say the rack tom is an MIJ shell with Ludwig hardware - the grain seems to be running vertical. While the grommet looks un-mangled, it could be just a tick "short" - carefully shaved...

Re: A new pedal for gigs

Note the beater...

Re: This is the Display Your MIJ Drums Thread

Such a high-gloss finish - did you paint the back of some type of plastic sheeting? Looks swell!

Re: Blended Family

Nice. I love that setup, 2 toms on a stand to the left of the kick, probably because of Phil Collins' setup for The Lamb tour, before the Premiere kit. Happy cymbal hunting.
