The first post DELETE is probably a well known control throughout the membership, as yes ... that one is the easiest to get rid of! I think drummer123 was inquiring about subsequent posts...

Re: Post

... well, you can DELETE your own post! .. but .. it's what is called a "soft delete", meaning: The post you want gone will not be able to be seen .. but .. I then have to go in and do a HARD DELETE,...

Re: Pearl 4214 Custom Brass Snare Drum

Nah ... Stewart Copeland did NOT "cheat" ... not even close .. and .. his name SHOULD be included with this particular model snare drum, as otherwise it's just a standard 70's era PEARL COB 10 lug...

Re: Fibes antiqued copper snare before

SUPERB!, that the seller is going to make it right for you! The drum looks GREAT! Nice job .. and .. yeah, the Antique Brass and Antique Copper were prone to that "spotting" over time. This one looks...

Re: Fibes antiqued copper snare before

That BLOWS!, and I'd say you have a good case here. The part is damaged, and unless it was listed as such, or listed as "as is", no way they can't allow a return or your money back. Just from a good...

Re: Fibes antiqued copper snare before

Well, I was just being friendly and diplomatic! :) It is indeed the "Antique Brass" metal laminate, as Fibes called it back in the day. Regarding the SFT ... so you're the one! :) I saw that that had...

Re: Fibes antiqued copper snare before

That looks more like Fibes “Antique Brass” rather than their Copper. Regardless, looks CLEAN, and at a great price! :)

Re: 1972/80 Pearl B4514 "Stewart Copeland"

Spot on Dean! These truly are "sleeper" snare drums as they can function in any idiom .. but .. they maintain that "fatness" throughout! THANKS for the comment!

Re: 1960's PEARL 10 lug

Yeah ... can't say for sure on this one being so early, but ... later, TWO rings around the shell was COS, and THREE rings around the shell specified COB! Seems like it might be the same here too!

Re: Floor tom identification

Dongrant3!

It's because the floor tom is NOT Slingerland at all! Appears to be an MIJ stencil brand. The vertical grain tips it off immediately, followed by the lugs and legs/mounts. We have some...

Re: Of Interest RE: Buddy Rich - 100 Years!

nittanyperc!

Can't say that I have ever seen or heard that with regard to Buddy's last Ludwig endorsement built drums. I have seen/heard that his drums were "off the rack", as he used to say. That...

Agreed Mark! You know, WHY not SHOW those pics then? What's the big mystery? Again, I don't necessarily doubt his claim .. but .. let's see the pics then! No one I know has EVER made mention of this...

Re: DFO thread - BR kit BDP

K.O.!

Indeed. There's just NO EVIDENCE, and that ... is the rub with his claim. You know, I saw a vid/clip of Buddy on YouTube more than a few years back where I was blown away to see him playing...

Re: Of Interest RE: Buddy Rich - 100 Years!

I've chatted with BIII more than a few times about this! Too much to go into here, but ... I know BIII was THE artist liason. He did have dealings with Buddy, but mostly just for his...

Hey Mark!

Truthfully ... in ALL the research I have done over the decades, and all the countless pics I have seen of Buddy .. many never in print .. I have never seen him playing a Slingerland 80N...

Re: Of Interest RE: Buddy Rich - 100 Years!

K.O.!

I direct you to post #25 where I put up a pic of BR and Ed Shaughnessy's drum battle on The Tonight Show back in 1978. Ed Shaughnessy does indeed have the same tom mount as Buddy. :)

Re: Of Interest RE: Buddy Rich - 100 Years!

... so let's start with your last paragraph: Buddy always stated PUBLICLY that he could give a rat's tail about what hardware might be on or with his drums .... and for that matter, he...

Re: Of Interest RE: Buddy Rich - 100 Years!

So true! Incredibly RARE to catch a view of the rivets in pics or a catalog shot back then. Interestingly, one of the first times I actually saw the riveted seams was with Buddy's set played during...

8upwithit!

They are both 14X24's .. but .. contingent on angle, sometimes a 24" bass drum does indeed appear to be a 22". BR and Ed both played 24's as their primary. On Ed's full set, he has a...

Re: Of Interest RE: Buddy Rich - 100 Years!

Interesting speculation on the possible WHY behind Buddy's "semi" Modular tom mount on his first set/sets supplied by Ludwig in 1978. That said though, he DID have the full on production...

The "Big Swing Face" recording at "The Chez" were Buddy's Rogers drums with the wood/WMP Dynasonic snare drum! Drums sound GREAT on that album too! :)
