Soooooo...

these metal snare shells...are WAAAAAAAAY soft metal.

Took the dents out of the shell where the strainer was over-tightened.

Now the shell's out of round.

And trying to fix...

Soooo...

What I did...

How much Weldwood you use depends on the size of the hole (obviously). Just because it's so handy, go ahead and buy the larger sized stick they sell. You'll likely use it...

Turns out, the only drum that wasn't out of round was the bass drum...I couldn't get the floor tom or...

Another update...today the UPS truck dropped off a little package from veneersupplies.com.

I ordered AAA grade Red North American Gumwood for the inner ply. This is really going to dress...

The "BAM like new!" was my thought as well...I had also thought about using an african mahogany ply instead of maple...but I'll admit now that it does cost a bit more moolah to get some...

Here they are after a good sanding...

There are some parts of the kit where the Minwax Mahogany stain seeped in pretty deep...I'm not too worried about it...besides...it's getting...

Luckily for me, Precision drum co sells the wrap pre-cut...all I have to do is manage to get the wrap on straight and sealed!

Though, if I could find the spare money, I could just have...

Started sanding today...I think re-rings will be an awesome investment for this kit. The 12 & bass drum feel pretty sturdy, but the floor tom (because of it's length to width ratio) isn't as...
