Re: 4x14 Deluxe - value?

Thanks Mike!

Long story about the drum, it was loaned to me 10 years ago, then gifted to me, and recently I said I'd return it to that person (it was originally intended for their son.) But I...

4x14 Deluxe - value?

I'm considering selling my Ludwig Deluxe, and was wondering what the going rate is these days. Nothing current or recent on Ebay, and Reverb shows one that sold 18 mos ago for $2179 (and it's not...

Re: Bermuda Schwartz Sighting!

Thanks all for the nice words! Legacy is a cool shop, Bobby and the gang are good people. A must-visit if you're near Denver.

Sadly, I sold that Whitehall kit for space reasons. It was really cool...

Re: Used Drum Gear from Guitar Center Online..Be Careful!

I've purchased more than a few used items in GC stores, but only one thing online - a hammered bronze Supra. I don't remember why - maybe just being cautious - but I contacted the drum department,...

Re: Chicago drum fair

Absolutely worth coming in to attend, and Vic's Drum Shop is a pretty amazing place with an incomparable selection of stuff. I know there's another amazing store there, I don't recall the name....

Re: Rare Roberto Spizzichino Handmade Copper Kit

Agreed on both points.

I played a Spizz kit in a quiet setting where I could hear what they sound like, and found them very midrangey and suited for jazz, maybe Latin. I didn't play with the...

Re: How many snares do you take .......

I can see bringing a few guitars or even basses to a gig, if they sound suitably different. I know that snares may sound radically different, but a gigging band is likely to be playing one or a...

Re: How many snares do you take .......

In the studio, I know ahead of time what I'm doing, and the potential sounds I need, and I select my drums and cymbals accordingly. I may bring a change of batters for one drum, but I try to keep...

Re: Ludwig set - Price seem high?

Burgundy Sparkle notwithstanding, the re-wrap changing the configuration greatly reduces the value of those drums as collectables. As a player's kit, he's pretty high on the asking price for the 3...

Re: How Many Drums of Which Company here at the Forum?

Interesting stats so far, pretty much the same as my perception of the companies back in the day. I always regarded Ludwig and Slingerland at the top, Rogers and Camco next, and Gretsch as almost...

Re: Did You Ever Want To Be Famous

Being a star, being famous, and/or being successful are often different things, especially in the arts.

Age is usually a factor when it comes to stardom, there probably aren't any 60-year-olds...

Re: Ludwig 1943 'Victory' kit.

I picked this up a few years ago, it was priced at $2500 although I got it for a little less. :) It's in excellent condition, and all original (except the snare stand, I added that and it appears to...

Re: What's the "weirdest" drum you've ever seen?

I think my DeMowbray Spacer snare is a real departure from standard drum design - there's no shell! Marcus DeMowbray made a few kits this way as well.

Re: Slingerland Cutaway drum set

I have a total of 19 matching drums, 15 of which are concert/cutaway toms, that made up at least the Jazz Singer kit. Dennis also had a terrific set with double-headed toms and regular concert...

Re: Quick Supraphonic Question-Should I Buy?

Correct on that, probably more like '69-70, after which they started using numbers on those badges*. $179 is a good deal as long as the drum isn't banged up too badly.

* Ironically,...

Re: Ludwig copper-phonic snare drum

I've had my 6.5" since January, and quickly earned a spot among my favorite few metal snares. It's a little bit Supra, a little bit Black Beauty, a little bit bronze, and also kinda woody for some...

Re: Who here has the biggest . . . . . . . .

I have 34 kits and 95 snares. Truthfully, I use maybe 4 of the kits on a regular basis, and have 5 or 6 go-to snares.
