Re: Rogers Price Check

Nice drums. Check to see if they are first gen beavertails because the screw boss is kind of weak on those. As long as the are on solidly at the moment, they probably won't give you any trouble.

Re: 1968 Rogers Red Onyx

That is classical gas! Very nice to have a matching original Dynasonic too. '68 is my favorite year for Rogers drums.

Re: Browsing Reverb; navigation question

I think what you have is an attempt by Reverb to drive increased sales. They call it bumping. You pay additional $$ to bump your item into greater circulation. That's probably why you see some items...

Get a load of this one.

Re: For Sale: 66 Ludwig Jazz Festival

Indeed, that looks like the bargain of the week. I've always liked the Ludwig white marine pearl.

Re: Reassembling my 1966 COB 7-line Dyna

Cool idea Mark. Looking forward to your report. The 7-line looks beautiful all back together. I have one that is not as nice, so a joy to see a top-flight one.

Mine is also linked to a blue...

Re: Rogers Dyna-Sonic Snare Case

I had to laugh John. I think I've seen the latter part of this quote assigned to all your Rogers drums and gear. :)

I wish I could say that. I've recently sold several of my kits, have one to go...

Re: Rogers Powertone Red Onyx Pearl Wrap

Going from memory here, but according to a materials science professor at the University of NH (70's era), the plasticizer is breaking down in these wraps causing the molecules to separate. Short...

Re: Billy Cobham

Thanks for that ID guys. Nice videos, especially the one showing Cobham playing that right handed kit as a lefty with matched grip. His style reminds me of both Art Blakey and Elvin Jones. Very fiery...

Billy Cobham

Does anyone recognize the brand of drums Billy Cobham was playing in 1968 with the Horace Silver Quintet in Copenhagen? I know the shot is not very clear, but maybe someone already knows.

Thanks

Re: 1967 Rogers Blue Strata

Do not be put off that the wraps are cracked, as long as they are small, with-the-grain of the wrap, and still adhered. I have a 12 16 20 Dayton/Fullerton tag transition BS kit; all three drums have...

Re: Properly installing a Roger's Drum Badge with Nails.

I've done a few more than a few over the years. I like to lay the nails back to the original indentation in the inside ply of the drum too. Essentially, I use the same techniques as the two mentioned...

Re: 1968 George Hayman 4 piece

Very, very nice, great color and great sizes. Tough to part with but probably easy to sell being quite rare.

Re: Getting the Logo Off

I'll take that hint and check on an older head Tommy.

Thanks to all for the experience and explanations, including the spray painting technique. Will also be trying the die-cut logo soon, since...

Sure is a good question for which I don't have an answer. I have three keys and they are all a bit different.

Re: Getting the Logo Off

Thanks for the replies guys.

Tommy: Do you find the smooth head gives you the same sound that we get with a coated head?

Mark: How long do you let the Goof Off or Goo Gone sit on the head?

Getting the Logo Off

There have been various postings on how to the the logo off a bass drum head. I note, of late, that acetone will take the logo off a Remo head, but by the time the logo is off, so is some of the...

Re: Weatherking Ambassador Coated versus Ambassador Coated

Looking at that article Zenstat, it might be 7.5 plus 3. But they say the Ambassador Vintage is 10 ply. I tried those and did not like them as well as what I thought was the normal Ambassador Coated....
