Re: Vintage MIJ Snare Drum ID Help!

My first thought was Pearl as well. I have a 60's Pearl snare that is a dead on copy of a Slingerland model (lugs, hoops, etc), including the non-usual throw off. So, I figured this could be another...

Re: SONOR 8 pc Phonic Series Rosewood in/out 1975 Centennial RARE & EXCELLENT!

At $14,000 US, I think the export fees are the least of the buyers concerns.

Speaking of hilarious, the asking price, duration of this sale, etc, is "hilarious".

I'm certainly enjoying the...

Re: Vintage MIJ Snare Drum ID Help!

This one has me stumped. Wrap, lugs and hoops are all vintage MIJ Slingerland style (like my Stewart's)...but the shell (wood), re-rings and throw off are...well, throwing me off haha.

Mark, have...

Hello,

I'm looking for a 60's era John Grey snare throw off. I could actually use two, but one would be amazing. I'd like it in great working order. If you have one (or two), send me a PM. Please...

Re: Good deal on Tama Imperialstar

Its very very rare to have "good deal" and "reverb" in the same sentence.

Re: Yamaha Vintage Drum - Identification

Well, not all original edges are in great shape. I would think that's an obvious point why someone would have them done. You can have great looking, rare vintage kit, but if the edges are crap,...

Re: Majestic Deluxe Bass Drum Restoration

Hello!

I'll give my two cents:

1. Just find out what I have here (grey interior?)

Grey painted interiors are not uncommon on vintage MIJ drums. Vintage MIA drums did th same thing; Ludwig...

Re: Head choice

This.

I'd go with coated Ambassadors top and bottom. I love the look of the coated bottom heads as well. Those AM shells will sound great with them, I have a B303 kit with AM shells to, they...

Re: Vintage Olympic Drum by Premier

Yes, different hardware, but the same shells were largely used across the various lines. Not uncommon for companies to do that, saves on costs. TS's snare and mine are same era/same badge.

My...

Re: Vintage Olympic Drum by Premier

This. Not a maple single ply. I have a 60's, 1182 model (6 lug). I'm 99% sure its the same shell.

Oh, you only had two stencil kits, I got the impression you had more experience with them. That's cool, its your opinion, nothing more.

I think we can point out some realities though:

Re: 60's Premier 'Beer Barrel' Hoops

The 70's die cast Premier hoops are my favorite. Stiffer then triple flange hoops, but lower profile then regular die cast ones. Best of both worlds, imo. The chrome is amazing, the shape, design,...
