Re: Huge Gretsch SSB kit for sale here locally-too bad about the rack toms =(

Hate to say it, but they were probably ordered without mounting hardware, and the Rogers mounts installed by the original dealer.
I remember in the early 80's, Halpin Music in Alton, IL was a...

Re: Early/mid 80's PEARL Exports - Type of shell?

I had a set that I bought new in 1986 that looked just like that. Had them for about 3 years then sold them to a friend when I bought a mid-60's Slingerland.
I remember thinking they were particle...

Re: Pearl Lugs

They were close, but not quite a match for the Slingerland lugs. They copied the style, but not an exact copy.
And I'm sure that the Pearl lug will have a slightly different spacing. That is a...

Re: Ludwig badges

I had a blue Vistalite 24/13/14/16 that didn't have serial numbers. It was an early one with the small spurs.
They were definitely not reproduction shells or badges.

Maybe he had luck dating his Slingerland's?
Personally, I would never date a drum set, even before I got married! :)
Seriously, who knows what is there with all of the different badges & tone...

Re: DW BD mount L cymbal arm

I have an l-arm, but not the extension with the cymbal tilter.
As mentioned above, you'll probably need to buy the whole set-up to get what you need.
The only reason I have an l-arm is I bought...

Re: DW BD mount L cymbal arm

Do you just need the l-arm part, or the whole l-arm and the cymbal mount (minus the bass drum mount)?
I may have a 12.7mm DW l-arm.

Josh,
I am going to have to disagree with this part of your assessment. We fully agree on the sound, RB Gretsch's probably the best to me though. I think that the "Ringo" boom at Ludwig impacted...

Re: Decisions Decisions

It looks like the Gretsch's have been modified with Ludwig tom mounts on the bass & tom. Although, they may have been ordered without mounts and added by the dealer.
