Re: Gene Krupa playing a Dynasonic?

Thanks TP!

It was driving me crazy that I remembered reading about this, but couldn't find it. It then becomes a "mission" to figure out. At least it didn't take days! LoLoLoLo

Re: Gene Krupa playing a Dynasonic?

I had also read about this and have spent almost 30 minutes searching through The Rogers Book and The Slingerland Book by Rob Cook and came up with nothing. I just looked through my copy of The Great...

Re: Made In USA Whitehall snare?!?

Your drum is a Kent (the US company, not the MIJ brand), but I'm just not aware that they used the Whitehall badge. We have a resident Kent guru here and maybe he'll know more about this. Sure looks...

TommyP!

Even with a cataract in one eye, I felt confident it wasn't your factory 5x14! Thanks for confirming this...AND...posting pictures for your snares. Always a pleasure to see what you have!...

Re: Gene Krupa playing a Dynasonic?

Tommyp!

I knew you would have the answer! As for Louie's Dynasonic, it sure looks thinner than a 5", almost like a 4.5" x 14". Is it just an illusion?

Re: What's wrong with this CL ad? :)

The original title had "1960s". Part of the text said "losing errors", which I didn't understand. After sending a nice email, the seller apologized for the errors and changed it. And, yes, $1100 is a...

Re: Gene Krupa playing a Dynasonic?

Yes, that's a Rogers kit with a Dynasonic! Gene was always faithful to Slingerland, so my educated guess is that it's not his kit. As suggested above, it could be Buddy's kit. Maybe TommyP would...

Re: What's wrong with this CL ad? :)

I sent a message to the seller about "losing errors" and that the kit is a mid-to-late 70's. They apologized for the listing error, as it was done on an iPhone and they didn't proof read it. They...

Re: Snare Stand Identification

I've got one of these same snare stands. Excellent for someone who needs to get their drum down low! Might be worth $25 or $30 to the right person. The biggest issue for many would be shipping...

Re: Question for Slingerland Folks

slingerfan...I don't think you'll get in trouble! Seems like the seller is inflating the price on the wrap alone. That's just not enough for me! I don't know what price we're talking about, but I...

Re: Joe Morello tribute kit

Great looking kit! I can already hear "Take Five"! Here's a picture of my Joe Morello tribute frame in my drum room. The background is a piece of Silver Sparkle wrap.

Re: Question for Slingerland Folks

As rare as Fiesta Pearl can be, I'd have to go with slingerfan on this. Just trust your instincts!

Re: Question for Slingerland Folks

Mark!

IMHO, even if that mount isn't original, it wouldn't deter me from purchasing the kit. It's Fiesta Pearl...and appears to be in VG condition! A rare wrap that you seldom come across. My vote...

Makes complete sense and would seem original to me. Pics would still clear up any confusion.

Re: stereo help needed- ext spkrs

Very surprised the MME has not chimed back in with more info and pictures. Hard to help when we can't get any feedback.

Re: Question for Slingerland Folks

Mark, that's a tough one! Can you supply any pictures? Don't pass on the kit just because a former owner made some changes to suit his/her style. I totally get where you're coming from. Pictures...

Re: stereo help needed- ext spkrs

Hi Matt,

Hope you can post pictures of what you have. I've been into stereo since the mid-60's and know quite a lot about them. In my experience, only lower-priced receivers used RCA jacks for...

Re: Ludwig Standard Lugs Switcheroo

I really like the "standard" lugs on the "standard" snare drum! Why mess with a good thing?!! Yes, you could install the new flat Imperial lugs, but the cost, IMHO, wouldn't justify the switch....

Re: Ludwig (Rocker?) Made In The USA?

Yes, it's the MIT (Taiwan) LM300 snare drum. I don't recall exactly when they came out. Steel shell with center bead and 10 Acrolite lugs. A good working strainer. They could have picked a better...
