Re: Picked up a Ruether Drum Kit

That snare is the same as my favorite snare! I have a few of those heavy steel shelled models from Pearl, and a stencil from Continental. The Continental is like that-8 lug w/battleship lugs. You...

Orphan bank

I really, truly wish that we here at the VDF had an "orphan bank" where we could list our orphan drums to eventually mate up and become families again. I don't think there is such a thing on the...

Re: How do you determine the Date of a Rogers R-360 ?

I personally don't consider Yamaha-built Rogers drums "entry level".That may have been the intent, but they aren't. The post-Yamaha ones, yes.

Re: Need help identifying drums!

That hardware is very odd. The steel rims are odd, the bd lugs are odd, the T rods are odd.The tom mounting arm...you guessed it...and the snare strainer. I have never seen those parts before.

Re: Polaris Drums Re-wrapped

Re: Mystery Pedal

Pearl built a pedal like that. Another company used the design after Pearl was done with it. Many of the period stencil sets came with a pedal like that or the one with a chain instead of the two...

Re: Premier Lokfast spring broke!

Any real self-respecting hardware store has bins of different length extension and compression springs. Or Mike Dolbear in England.

The "Grampa Tom" memorial drum set

Here is the end result of many years of searching for a Star -built BD to go with the Stewart toms my son sent up from Florida. When my Grandfather Tom was doing his trio-dance band thing in the...

Re: Star snare drum 'Super Strainer No.940' buildup

So on this strainer is the slot angled so when you move it left to right it changes the distance the metal housing sits from the shell? How do you connect the snares to the bottom?

Re: Royce snare drums

I'm quite sure the early 70's Royce snare would have a "tip" style strainer, while newer ones would have the generic lift style. The tip style has an adjustment knob in the middle similar in function...

Re: weird MIJ snare ?

That drum is not MIJ. It is most likely German. People on here have discussed that stranded-sparkle wrap before. A wrapped metal shell...veeeeery interesting...I'd like to add that the lugs are...

Home-made M6 T-rods...

Well, this problem has been bugging me for YEARS. The only way to use an MIJ bass drum with missing M6 rods is to convert the inserts to 12/24. This is not always a good fit. The M6 inserts are...
