I have a 14 x 22 6 ply Ludwig drumshell in a black sable finish. Part of the finish has been sanded by the previous owner. Perfect for a wrap job. The drum has hole for 20 large lugs and a Modular...

Not much you can do for the bass, other than make sure the wrap around the crack is glued down to prevent further damage. Maybe get creative and fill with colored wax...

The tom is a fairly easy...

I don't think the earlier ones such as yours were a database.

In the early 80's they put a hyphen in the SN for the year.. such as 81-*****, etc

1 mm difference could mean nothing more than one thicker ply... tolerances back then were much more relaxed...

The re-rings were dropped earlier than 82.

Imperialstars were produced up until Tama revamped their entire line changing the Superstars to Granstars in the later 80's.

The throw looks a lot like INDE drums, which wouldn't be a surprise since Josh, the owner of INDE drum was the engineer behind the new Atlas line when he worked at Ludwig...
