Re: Cleaning up 70s Bonzo type kit

Thank you! I’m hanging onto these for the long haul. They do have thaat sound and are a real pleasure to play. A person could get addicted to Vistalites if they’re all this easy to tune and have...

Cleaning up 70s Bonzo type kit

Got these a while ago and sold them and recently got them back. They weren't too shabby to begin with as the before picture shows but after I re-aquired them I decided to work on the pieces most in...

Re: Gretsch Glass Glitter or Sparkle?

So, Gretsch no longer offers Black Sparkle so one option I have is to order a 14” FT in Black Glass and see if it stands out from the rest of the kit or, ordering a stained maple Gretsch USA tom from...

Re: Gretsch Glass Glitter or Sparkle?

This is one of my other Gretsch kits I just got a couple months ago from a collector. It's probably my grail kit. Early to mid 1980s I'm guessing. Nice lacquer checking on the bass, a bit of snare...

Re: Gretsch Glass Glitter or Sparkle?

There's no patches, scratches nor rashes on that 8x12. It's like outta the box pristine. One tiny scratch on the back of the floor tom, easily buffed out if I want and smallish marks on the bass...

Re: Gretsch Glass Glitter or Sparkle?

Gorgeous Drum! Love Fiesta Sparkles and the Mardi Gras finishes. I'm thinking Maxwells is my best bet for a matching tom and snare for that matter.

Re: Gretsch Glass Glitter or Sparkle?

Thanks Mark. Will see what I can do. The Black Glass would do in a pinch I guess but yes, I will see if maybe Maxwells or someone else can locate that finish for me. DW is running Gretsch now so...

Re: Gretsch Glass Glitter or Sparkle?

Thanks idrum4fun. After closer inspection the "sparkles" as I'm now calling them are all six sided and are small, med and large in size. Here's a better picture or two. I hope I can still get a...

Gretsch Glass Glitter or Sparkle?

Hi I just picked up an older SS badge Gretsch USA custom set with 14x18 bass, 12x8 tom and 16x16 floor tom. I wish to buy or order a matching 14x14 FT but I am not sure if the color is black sparkle...

Re: Gretsch RB Aqua Satin Flame

Don't regret what you did. You learned some things along the way. What I learned is I'm through buying old drums that were modified from original with extra holes or needed repairs to anything...

Re: Gretsch RB Aqua Satin Flame

I've got a most of a RB kit in those colors. 14x5.5", 12x8" and 20x14" with a Gretsch New Classic 14x14" in Merlot sparkle. Got the bass and the tom together and there's no extra holes in either...

Re: Vintage Gretsch Score

Yep I saw that, by the same guy I got my aqua satin Gretsch drums from.. Probably supposed to go with my kit LOL. Oh well. I do like the sounds of 14x14" bebop floor toms better. And you're right,...

Re: Vintage Gretsch Score

Does anyone know of a repair for the old Lightning strainers like on this drum which will occasionally work itself to the off position when playing? I noticed when I had it off the drum for cleaning...

Old Gretsch in weathered shape

Picked this one up from Ebay. Drums hardware seemed in rough shape but I didn't realize how bad it was until I got it. The drum itself was in quite nice shape, round, good bearing edges, nice wide...
