Re: Ludwig Value

On an original kit like that? Definitely worth less. Comparing against the same unmodified kit, probably 20% less or more. It would have to be sold as a players kit.

Re: Recut Bearing Edges on Valuable Vintage drums?

Yes, to any collector it devalues due to altering the originality. Ludwig and others often had some rough edges, seen it. 50+ years later they get worse.
There are exceptions as many vintage era...

Re: Ludwig or Rogers.

Both drums are excellent choices, however, what style or situation your going to use it in has to be considered. Both are versatile drums. The BB will cover a wider range, but as the owner of a “new”...

Re: The Drum Bug

10th grade, early 80’s. A friend of mine was selling a Rogers Black Diamond 3 pc. kit with a crusty Supra, hardware and cheap cymbals for $100. Mezmorized by Bonham, Peart, and Copeland at the time,...

Paiste Formula 602 help

Recently, I went and bought a vintage kit. Once I arrived, I saw a couple cymbals on the sellers bench; a pair of pre serial Paiste Formula 602’s. One was 20”, medium to heavy, the other was 19” and...

Re: Clubdate floortom bracket repair/fabrication

Great job! I agree, not a great design, but then again, who knew we’d be cherishing these drums 50+ years later?
I have a set on a 14x14 that had that bracket egged out. I used my Dremel to grind...

Re: Bass drum hoops Ludwig 64

To me, it depends on how bad they are. Purists will certainly not want to alter the original paint missing from the hoop. However, if you plan to play them and clean them up, it really doesn’t effect...

I must say, never saw an OBP Downbeat this complete and original. But when I saw the price, that’s just whacked! Apparently, there’s two others, so I’ll wait for one of those to go on the block!Car...

Re: Production numbers for Ludwig Acrolites?

I picked up this Aug. 1970 Acrolite a couple months ago. It has factory Imperial lugs, which has been documented to be a factory anomaly in that month and others do exist. Didn’t pay much for it, but...

Re: Ludwig WMP Help

You can look and see what nice WMP kits of the same sizes and finish are selling for and take 10-15% off due to them being orphans. Great players kit in really nice condition! GLWS!:)

This is what I was talking about! That “weird” feeling....
