Re: Drum Companies and Their Worst Ideas

I think this brings us to the absolute worst idea, which was Ludwig's decades-long refusal to use drum key operated screws on their strains/butt plates...

Re: Drum Companies and Their Worst Ideas

The Tama "Air Ride" snare stand/mount system.

Because if there's one thing that drummers demand, it's maximum resonance and sustain from their snare...

Re: Tips for shipping vistalites?

When I ordered a set of acrylics the drums had all rims and mounting hardware removed and we nested inside of each other with bubble wrap and cardboard to protect from scratching. The box was...

Re: This is the Display Your Slingerland Drums Thread

I bought these this past spring. Slingerland 58N "Pop Outfit" with 20" kick, 16" floor, 12" and 13" rack toms. The previous owner added the second floor tom, an 18" Sound King that he converted to a...

Rogers Big R hi hat and pedal footboards

Hi all,
Are the footboards for the Big R (Supreme) kick pedal and hi hat identical? I see one on eBay that's listed as a Big R hi hat pedal footboard but as far as I can tell it looks like it's from...

Re: Swivomatic pedal rehab questions

So the pedal arrived earlier this week. I took it apart and was surprised to find proper roller bearings instead of the bushings one would expect from this generation of Swivo. Granted, it looks like...

Re: Swivomatic pedal rehab questions

Impressive, both the wear on the neglected one and the new one you fashioned. I'm afraid I haven't the tools or skills to tackle that though!

Re: Swivomatic pedal rehab questions

Another question about the bearings.
Are the Koyo brand bearings pretty much identical to Torrington? I see something about them having the same parent company.

Re: Swivomatic pedal rehab questions

Thanks for your answer. Ideally I would be using a Blackjack which is more practical than the DW but that would require swapping the cam out for one from a Big R which I'm sure is feasible. ...

Swivomatic pedal rehab questions

Good day all,

I finally found for sale online the pedal I have been searching for - the "transition" Swivomatic that has the Swivo footboard but the Supreme-style lever hoop clamp. It's going to...

Re: Were Slingerland stick-savers undersized?

Slingerland hoops have a bit of a "wall" around the "ear" of each lug hole (if that makes sense) -- not sure if older MIJ knockoffs also did but modern sticksaver repros definitely do not. Judging...

Re: Swivomatic bass drum pedal: overtighten stroke arm

I've been hunting for a Swivo myself (lever clamp version) and am dismayed to see more listings for cannibalized parts than actual full pedals... although, it is certainly helpful in this case. Maybe...

Re: Woody Herman drummer - REMO Drums

Seems though if they belonged to Louie Bellson the seller would have just said that... this is more like describing Buddy Rich as Tommy Dorsey's drummer! But who knows, this does make the most...

Woody Herman drummer - REMO Drums

Hi all,

My first drum set at age 13 was a white Remo Acousticon kit that, my father was told at the garage sale he bought them from, had belonged to the drummer for the Woody Herman Orchestra. In...

Premier Rok Lok mount sizing

Hi all,

Can anybody tell me the screw hole distances and tube diameter for the old 1980s Premier Rok Lok bass drum tom mount receiver? And more importantly... is it at all interchangeable...

Re: Buddy Holly Story

I dunno, that Back to the Future one is kinda pedantic. They still made the effort to evoke an earlier era despite that one detail and that mount is still vintage relative to the time of filming....

Re: Superficial Drum Pet Peeves

Ahead Armor is guilty of this. Great cases but very inconsistent when listing the sizes; i.e. it might say a 20x14 bass drum and then say 18x22... I recently almost bought a floor tom case thinking...

Superficial Drum Pet Peeves

I always find this kind of thread amusing - what are your superficial pet peeves in terms of drum gear? Meaning purely aesthetic annoyances, like tom angles.

Personally, while I have no problem...

I recently bought a concert tom kit which is actually all single headed, down to the kick. It is the Slingerland 58N "Pop" outfit: 20/12/13/16 with an additional...

Zildjian Swish rivet pattern

Hi all,

I recently bought a 1970s era 22" Zildjian Swish. It has seven rivet holes in it; six are spaced at equal intervals around the circumference (12:00, 2:00, 4:00, 6:00, 8:00, 10:00), with...
