Re: Help identify vintage drum without badges

Hello,

No, Sir - sorry to contradict. These drums were never made in the 70s/ 80s. As member teverson-sr said: maybe 90s, but not earlier.
If you study catalogues of any supplier in the 70s or...

Re: Do you ever feel overwhelmed with all your gear?

It is very interesting to read all your posts, mates.

I have downsized by one-third (well ... from six to four kits ... lol) and feel much better now: three Royal Star's and a Prem Heritage Club...

Re: Tama King Beat pedal parts? Help!?

Hello Del,

I just sent you an email. Do you mean these 'King Beat' bass drum pedals (left: earlier Star model, right: later Tama version) ?

Cheers, Ralf

Re: Sonor Swinger Kit with D421 snare plus pedals

Thanks, guys.
I never considered an 'upgrade', as ALL lugs are completely in full order, functional, and not a single one is broken or has any other damage.

Email sent to randy73.

Re: What is your Favorite Drum Badge??

Star made, really? Can you mail me pics of this kit, please?

The way coolest badge ever for me is one, I've copied once from a post from member Osakabop here:
Marayama Drums.

Re: Here's something you don't see often !

Yes, Sir.
There also existed another one with the same surface, but in a silver colour: called 'Chrome Zoom'.

The snare itself is something special worth: it's a KingBeat.

1972/73 Royal Star in WMP

Hello,

This is my last restoration project (I swear ...):
a Royal Star in 22/12/13/16 plus Star metal snare drum from the same era.
All resonant side parts from the toms were missing when I...

Re: Star snare drum 'Super Strainer No.940' buildup

Hello,

Finally, I decided to choose a new modern strainer, but made by Tama, so it's from the same 'family'.
It's the 'Imperialstar series 2011 strainer', part no. MUS65A.
I had to drill two...

Re: Star snare drum 'Super Strainer No.940' buildup

Hello,

I think I found the reason.
The slot for the handle is broaded due to excessive usage of the handle of the years (that's also the reason why the handle was carved in the same area).

Re: Are new or vintage drums better?

New drums (especially the rack toms) have another great advantage which wasn't mentioned here before - but should be said:
the tom holder system nowadays (called 'rim') sound-wise...

Re: Star snare drum 'Super Strainer No.940' buildup

I shortly acquired a Star kit including a metal snare drum with the no.940 snare strainer.

Maybe it was assembled false before as well, but the mounting I have done makes no sense: the...

Re: Please help identifying this set

I'm pretty sure that the stamp reads 'ROMEN', which was a budget line from Meinl, the German distributor of Star drums in the early 70's. Made of nickel silver. It may sound good, but could also...

Re: 1970s Star snare drum

Hello,

This is not a Star made drum - but indeed it is one of the very early Tama snare drums.
The butt end was in place at Star and Tama, but:
the snare lever was never used at Star - under...
