Try rubbing a little Shae butter (on your finger tips) into the dry head. If you soak them to clean them use cold water and don't soak for too long. The shae butter or some lanolin based leather...

Steff- look at the flange/angle of the bolt head. Make sure the angled part is up against the back of the new grommet. You won't need anything else. Simple set up, bolt, washers (1 nylon washer to go...

You can do the whole job for $1.95... Bolt that fits through vent hole, some washers and a nut to tighten/squeeze everything together. Done deal.
