Slingerland 13" snare

Looking for a Slingerland 5.5" x 13" snare that was part of the 2-N JOBBING OUTFIT. They were produced between 1955-1962 and I'd prefer a post Beavertail lug model. Please PM me if you can help!

Re: gretsch ssb bearing edge

"Slightly rounded" is a good description, especially if the drum is a mid to later SSB. The 30 degree didn't start until the 80's I believe.

Only the second one of these I've seen and the first in 20/14/12 sizes. I have an orphan 12" tom and it sounds very good!

Re: Birch or mahogany?

Should produce two different sounds.

Birch: aggressive and brighter tone; enhanced lows and highs offer a good balance of tone to crispness.

Mahogany: strong low end makes for a very rich, warm...

Bass Drum Logos

When did drum makers begin putting their logos on the BD reso head? I read that Ludwig may have been the first when they saw Ringo's drums with a LUDWIG sticker on his BD.

Slingerland 3 Ply No Re-Rings

Anyone have experience with these shells/drums? Maple/Poplar/Mahogany w/o reinforcement rings. Short lived before they went to the 5 ply version.
