Re: Sonor Pancake

Hi Mike,

No badge. I've seen one or two on ebay with a badge that just says "Sonor/West Germany" (maybe it was "East Germany"), I'm not sure what city the company was in during the cold war. ...

Sonor Pancake

I'm selling this Sonor Pancake because I've had it for quite a while and never used it.

I'm listing it in the "For Sale" thread, but I wanted to ask if anyone knew the age of this drum.

There...

Re: Need help to ID this.

TXAndy,

You have what is called a "sock cymbal". Or "sock cymbal set". I have no idea why they were called 'sock cymbals' but that's what they are.

They were hand operated and typically...

Re: K. Zildjian Constantinople...the worlds most sought after cymbals

At this point, it becomes less of an issue of sale value and more a matter of the tradition of the orchestra. With both Philly and Pittsburgh for example, those cymbals are part of the signature...

Re: K. Zildjian Constantinople...the worlds most sought after cymbals

These 21" cymbals belong to the Pittsburgh Symphony and have been in the orchestra's possession longer than anyone can remember. I've gone back through most of the living percussionists that have...

Vintage Drum Shops in Vienna

Does anyone know of a cool place to check out vintage gear in Vienna? I'm here for a couple of days and would like to geek out over some drums.

Any suggestions would be great!

Thanks guys.

Re: Ringo's First Cymbal for sale...ummmm...ok

This cymbal was up on ebay a few years ago. I remember reading the EXACT same description and basically coming to the same conclusion where all of us have also arrived.

mlvibes has perhaps the...

Re: Old K's can break your heart!

Knavel,

I could totally take that piece of junk 20" old K off your hands if it's taking up too much space.

K Istanbul Date?

Hey guys,

I know I should do my research before posting this, but I don't know very much about the K Istanbul line.

A colleague of mine is planning on selling this 18" K Istanbul and I wanted...

Re: Unidentified Snare Drum

That's a Leedy Tango snare drum.

From roughly the teens -20's. I believe it was a student model, or just a less expensive (to manufacture that is) drum that Leedy made.

Here's one on ebay:

Re: Unidentified Snare Drum

Can you post a picture of the strainer?

I have a pretty good idea what it is, but don't want to let the cat out of the bag without being sure.

Re: is this a scam-auction?

German ebay scam . . . definitely.

Luckily it just got pulled down-enhausen.

I chuckle when I think of people who figure the best way to make money is to scam people for drums. I'm sure it's...

Re: Need help! Details needed on 1920s-30s cylmbal hanger piece!

Thanks guys, but it's really no big deal. If I have no use for something it's better to give it to someone who will use it than to let it sit and gather dust.

Here are some pics of the piece...

Re: Need help! Details needed on 1920s-30s cylmbal hanger piece!

HotIron,

Sure thing dude. I don't mind just giving this piece to you. I truly have no use for it - and the leather isn't in such good shape, but that's an easy fix.

I'll post some pics later...

Re: Need help! Details needed on 1920s-30s cylmbal hanger piece!

News Flash!!

I didn't actually throw this damn thing out! I thought I did, but just as I was leaving my studio I saw it next to the cymbal it came with (more on that later).

I was in a hurry,...

Re: Need help! Details needed on 1920s-30s cylmbal hanger piece!

The strap wasn't very...

Re: Need help! Details needed on 1920s-30s cylmbal hanger piece!

I used to have one of those and finally got rid of it because I thought, "I'm NEVER going to use this." Yep . . . just goes to show . . .

I DO remember the size though. It was about the...

Thanks Lee. I couldn't find an example of a turned-out flesh hoop for MaestroSnare.

Basically when you realize that the hoop is turning away from the rim it means your favorite calf...
