Re: Ludwig Blue & White Marine Pearl

I think that the blue color was applied to the back side of the clear top ply before that ply was laminated to the bottom ply. The limited reissue of the Salesman's Sample drums in 2018 differed from...

Re: Documentary Movie--Hired Gun

From listening to the narration in the film and Liberty DeVito's interview, I wonder if Billy Joel's entire demeanor changed radically when his manager screwed him out of all of his money.

Re: Fibes Crystalite snare hoop questions.

It took me quite a while to figure out that the picture is a close-up of a "clear" Fibes shell.

Re: We're very much like this Pit Bull

Dog owners can appreciate this type of behavior from our pets. When my wife and i return home after being gone for a little while, we are often greeted by one or both dogs with toys in their mouths.

We're very much like this Pit Bull

So many of us in this forum and other drum forums are eager to post pictures of our precious drums. We're very much like this pit bull in the car on the left. She just had to show her precious teddy...

Documentary Movie--Hired Gun

Two days ago I watched a very interesting and well-made documentary movie on the Amazon Prime network. The movie was an hour and a half long. The people profiled in the film are some of the music...

Re: Picking These Up This Week: Ludwig Standards

Bob...That looks like a nice little drum set. You know about my aversion to Ludwig drums. When I was in full drum collecting mode, I usually had a Ludwig drum set (purchased cheaply) for trade bait....

Re: Vintage drum heads play or save?

My recent purchase of a 1968 Slingerland drum set came with new heads all around. The original heads (or the heads that were on the drums when the store acquired them) are all in boxes from the new...

Re: Fibes Crystalite snare hoop questions.

Tommy...I have forgotten the particulars of this transaction. I remember that the the guy was eager to get this set so that he could trade off gigging both sets without incurring much damage to each...

Re: Slingerland buffs - Fresno, CA craigslist

I agree with everything that Mark just said. I will point out that drum buyer/seller/flipper types will try to knock down a seller's asking price by making the few little imperfections sound like...

Re: Fibes Crystalie snare hoop questions.

About ten years ago, I was in full tilt collecting mode. I felt that it was my duty to fill up the two unoccupied bedrooms in our 3,000 square foot house with drums. I admit to what I now refer to as...

Re: Buddy Rich on Turner Classic Movies

Thank you. I couldn't find it when I looked for it. That was a better looking rug than
those that he wore later in his life.

Re: The Magadini / Briko Power Rod Bass Drum Pedal

Thanks for the info, Pedal Pusher. Seems to me that keeping a spare pedal on hand at all times would be a good idea because that thin filament could fail.

Re: The Magadini / Briko Power Rod Bass Drum Pedal

Does that mechanism have a thin strap? a flat metal coil spring? a thin chain?

How have your drum sets evolved over the years?

My first drum set in the mid 1950s was a three piece Gretsch two-tone Duco set. I replaced this in 1961 with a four-piece Rogers set with every imaginable Swivomatic doodad I could order for the set....

Re: Rip talker hawkins

I sure hope that Bun didn't think that I was ragging on him. I was meaning to say that it is not disrespectful to comment on replacing "Talker" in his band so soon after his drug-related death. I...

Re: Show us your Satin Flame drums

sksmith2500...That Gretsch set looks beautiful. You righted a major wrong by replacing the plumbing pipes with the rail consolette. Thank you.
