Re: Vintage Pearl Free Floating Brass Snare Drum..Help.

Looks like a first generation Free Floater, early to mid 80's. Not sure how serial number fit the manufacturing years on Pearl drums. Maybe someone can chime in on that.

Re: Another Delusional Crack Smoking Seller

The condition is fantastic. I've seen hardware sets for sale in decent conditions and some shell sets with rare wraps. This takes the cake though but the price is indeed too much. I wonder how much...

Re: Help!! Dating My Tama imperiastar

The kit is mid 70's for sure, no later than 76. No wrap and concert toms, missing bassdrum lugs, I'd say $250 tops.

Re: Tama serial #s

Mid 70's for sure. The serialnumber started at 50***, i think in late '74. So 68*** could be 75/76 or even 77. It should have thick rerings either way, which to me is good.

Re: Tama snare

Late 90's to early 2000's, I know the Swingstar and Stagestar lines used those lugs.

Re: Star/Tama Transition

Star Imperial and Royal had these shells. As I own an Imperial King Beat marching snare with the inner birch ply. Heavy as hell, and it has the tear drop lugs instead of tue coffin lugs. Seems like...

Re: Star/Tama Transition

Star had these lugs as well, they dropped the Slingy and Teardrop lugs with the name change and kept the coffin/Rogers clone lugs. These are indeed Star left overs with the square badge (Perfect...

Re: Tama 6740 Bass Drum Pedal Question

Those square head screws are original to my knowledge. Early ones had them, the later ones had allen screws.

Re: That modern kit must have

I'd love to own a set of Tama Star in Smoky Black or Satin Charcoal Japanese Sen, type of wood not too picky, and all available sizes just in case.

Re: Tama shells

If it's 1 ply less, would mean saving some money on shell construction. But who knows. Both basses sound good. I don't have the same heads on them to compare them though. But I dont think that 2 24"...

Re: Tama shells

The re-rings could have been dropped in 81. I also have Imps with and without re-rings. The ones without have the 83-xxxx badges, hence the 82-83 estimate.
