Re: Vintage Cymbal Identification

I was told that is was Mikael himself who did this, or in his abscence it was the foreman. And it's written in Latian Script.

As for the ink, I've often wondered about that myself. It must have...

Re: Vintage Cymbal Identification

Zenstat is right that the inked cursive writing here is not a true signature, but as he said it says "K. Zildjian & Co". The term "signature" is a misnomer that stuck because it actually looks a lot...

Re: Is this a 1930s custom made A Zildjian?

Actually I never meant my comments to be a poke at you, Zenstat. I made my comments in reference to Scott whatever his name is. Ane I am aware that you are doing some true research of your own. And...

Re: Is this a 1930s custom made A Zildjian?

Just for your information and for anyone else who cares, that's the 5th type they used since 1929.

Those "excellent timeline" folks like to pretend that they actually know what their talking...

Re: A beat-up old Zildjian with 16 rivets

Just crimp the flared ends narrow enough with a pliers so you can get them to slide out. Cutting the ends off with a metal shears or wire cutters also works but it's harder to do it that way.

Re: Don't fail me cymbol gurus. Identify stamp

That's the last of the Constinople trademarks, presumably circa 1940.

Look near the bottom of that trademark and you'll see some illegible characters. That's the words "trademark" and...

Re: A beat-up old Zildjian with 16 rivets

Nice score. Just because its heavy doesn't mean anything bad. It could be a gem, but remove those rivets so you can really hear it. You'll need to do this before cleaning it anyway.

As for...

Re: Dating a Zildjian K

Yes that still holds true today. You can also find that K. timeline in the last pages of The Gretsch Book by Rob Cook.

Re: Vintage Zildjian????

Not a Zildjian.

You can't judge the alloy using a photo. Color balance can be adjusted to make even NS12 look like B-20.

Re: Old K Istanbul and Avedis Transition Trademark Identification.

The best thing to do is run it as a straight auction and see what the market will bare. A video demo would help you get a better result.

Re: Old K Istanbul and Avedis Transition Trademark Identification.

For the time being, what we currently have here is either a type I old or a type IIa old stamp. It's a bit ambiguous because of incompletely impressed components.

Re: 50s Avedis large stamp - what do you think?

Nice one. That era has produced more winners than the other large stamps in my opinion. Also the ordering of the 3 types has changed from what it was based on latest research. The "no-dots" types...

Re: Bell Signature Constantinople

That's an ersatz K. The trademark name is Zveltian, but it's just a UFIP masquerading as a Constantinople K.
