Capelle was a long family history in drum making: starting from Cirichelli brand (from 1918 to 1948), then Sonic (50's - 60's), then Capelle (from 1975 to 2010)

The screw locking the BD "monster" tom holder tube in the BD has lost its threads. I'm looking for a replacement one. Anything in your spare box?

Actually ASBA produced very few copper kits, less than 10 (some says 5 at most). Each kit was hand made and signed by the company employee who did it.

The plastic rim was a common feature on metal...

From what I know, all metal kits from Asba were made of steel except for very few (10 or so) cooper kits.

The steel shell I have was made from a steel foil, rolled and spot welded at the seam....

I removed old (and ugly) paint on a calf head by using a trapezoidal cutter blade as a scrapper.

Capelle Rosewood

This one was among the last built by French factory Capelle before it closed down in 2010.

This 5.5" snare is in brazilian rosewood. The wood has dried more than 40 years before being used.

This is a purpleheart snare with maple strips I did from a 8mm stave shell built by Koko / Signature Drums: 5.5x14". Finished with shellac. Stellar maple hoops with purpleheart inlay

Yes you're right, they are indeed different:
- T-Rods and claws are all Rogers. Don't ask me why :confused:

Finished cleaning

Today was the first day without rain since a long time (and no, I'm not living in SEA) so I took the old lady out for a few pictures.

She was reunited with a younger 1981 6.5" snare for the photo...

Here it is: I finished the cleaning today. Lots of scratches but I was able somehow to attenuate them a bit (just a little bit)
