Re: Aqua Premier year and thoughts

Nice kit, shipping is a ripoff though. I regularly ship kits that size for less than $100.

Re: Duck Tape on Cymbals

Acetone is probably the most effective, but if the flamability bothers you, I've had very good luck with just plain old mineral spirits.

Re: Help identifying this snare

It's one of a couple of hundred brands made by either Pearl or Tama (Star at the time) or possibly Hoshino. They are all pretty much the same in term of collector value, which isn't much, but some...

Re: Jammin' Sam? Boooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, I've tried that stuff. Had nothing but trouble with it. The problem with contact cements is that once contact is made, it's permanent. You can't move the wrap around, so if you are slightly off...

Re: Jammin' Sam? Boooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Precisely which 3m "glue" are you referring to, do you mean their NF3 contact cement (not a glue) or do you mean actual glue? I'm intersted in finding a good glue to use as opposed to contact cement...

Re: Jammin' Sam? Boooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can't agree with this at all. You should NEVER have to kiss a merchants ass to get what you want. I never treat my customers that way. I bend over backward if I have to, to earn their business. Any...

Re: Jammin' Sam? Boooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, if you are frustrated with JS, I sell drum wrap too and for a lot lower price than JS does, or Precision for that matter. I don't sell grommets and I don't cut the wrap. I sell in full sheets...

Re: Is this a cool wrap or what?

Those are Lumigraf wraps, they do make some awesome wraps, but their prices...god, sky high. Even Precision doesn't have the balls to charge that much.

I wrap hundreds of drums a year and got...

Re: Mystery 60's Japanese Drums!

Well, wait a moment, I believe the MIJs of that era were made in Japan, only CB-700 was produced in Taiwan. CB-700 was owned by Pearl but it was a distinct brand and much better quality than they are...

Re: Walmart selling drum equipment !!!

Gretsch Catalina Maple is NOT entry level gear, not by a long shot. I'm not sure anything Gretsch makes could be fairly called entry level. First Act is entry level, Gretsch Catalina series is...

Re: Pearl kit. Help please!

That's a Japanese stencil kit, all very common parts you won't have any trouble locating them, especially here. The "skins" or as most drummers call them, heads, are a consumable item available at...

Re: Pearl 1950s kits

Pearl did indeed make drums during the 1950's, but did not export them until 1957 and then most likely in tiny quanities. It wasn't until 1961 when they built their 15,000 square foot factory for...

Re: Professional Drum Wrap, Vintage Pearl Styles

I'll try to get you a pic. The white pearl I have right now is a bit different from the others, it is small chip whereas all the others are large chip. Looks really cool if you ask me.

Re: These drums are rocking!

It's important to distinguish between bearing edge problems and edge trueing issues. The problem here as described is not a bearing edge problem but a problem of trueing. Edges don't have to be...
