I have two 1964s. One that has no pitting, and one that is pitted badly.

Re: Dating This Ludwig Kit

Based upon hardware (except tom post) and clear interiors, my guess would be right about 1967-68. The tom post is 80's/90's Rockers.

Re: Help with identification!!!

Looks to be a pieced together kit as far as I can tell from the pictures. The serial #s on the black/white badges cannot be used to date it as there were no records kept by Ludwig. They were...

Re: Acrophonic? Supralite?

Ludwig was notorious for this type of thing. Different badges, different lugs, etc. When they ran out of bowties, they'd use imperials. Shells were the same way as there are 10 lug Acrolites and 8...

1947 Ludwig & Ludwig color test

Doing a little color testing using various colors of paper. Liking the antiqued white. The drum was originally lacquered white, and some idiot stripped it. My thoughts were returning it to a bright...

1941 Ludwig and Ludwig

Just picked up this 1941 Ludwig and Ludwig Standard snare with gold hardware. The drum is out of my knowledge base and I could use some input as to originality and how to clean without destroying it.

1976 Ludwig Stainless Steel Bop kit

Kit was made from abused marching concert tom shells in sizes 8x12, 10x14, and 10x18. Hand planished, sanded, polished to return their former glory. One kit Ludwig never made!

Re: Help identifying 1969 Ludwig kit in gold mist

Definately a Pro Beat model. It may not have appeared in a catalog until 1975, but you could order those sizes in 1969.

Re: Ludwig Black Acrolite - Confusing

People often attempt to date them by using the serial number, not understanding that the black/white badge's serial numbers cannot be used to determine the production dates.
